I have been looking arounf to make a cuff. Actually the problem is that my sleeve is wide ending (Bell sleeve??). So even if I make a cuff, how should I attach the cuff to it?😢
@@dianashaan1446 I know it seems cheeky of me to ask but did you watch the whole video? I literally demonstrate how to attach the cuff, even when the sleeve is wider than the desired cuff. It’s all in the video! Obviously if the sleeve is simply too wide to attach a narrow cuff because there’s too much fabric to gather in, then you’ll need to decide whether to change the design for a different type of cuff or if you need to re-do the sleeves to make them narrower.
I am so sorry if it came across as something else. I saw you attaching the cuff to the sleeve, but given the fact that my sleeve is wider, I thought I could ask someone more experienced on how to get it done (I am actually a beginner). I suppose it is not possible to gather in large amounts of fabric or does it look messy?@@MezzaCraft
@@dianashaan1446 haha! No worries… I wasn’t sure :-). Yes, if the cuff is really wide, it can become tricky to gather because there’s too much fabric. It depends on the thickness & fibre content of the yarn too - chunky/thick yarns (for me that’s Aran/worsted upwards because I prefer finer yarns for sweaters ) will be more difficult to gather . Squishier yarns will be a bit more forgiving but cotton, not so much. And finally, it’s whether it actually looks nice and sits/hangs properly - even if you’ve managed to gather a much wider sleeve & attach it, it sometimes doesn’t look right or drape properly. The best thing is just to give it a go on one sleeve to see how it looks. Perhaps even make a sc (dv) rib rather than slip stitch because it’s quicker and you won’t feel like you’ve wasted so much time if it doesn’t work out.
I used to struggle really bad with my chain was too tight, so I do my first row/magic circle with a bigger hook. I don’t think it’s noticeable and it saves me lots of frustration.
that's a great work-around!
I'm so pleased to find your website and your TH-cam channel. Was looking for a description of a tight / sharp picot, and your instructions were beautifully clear and very concise! Now I have seen this lovely pattern I have subscribed. Thank you!

thank you Joyce! Maybe you'll give it a try one day?
I was using a hook just all steel. It kept turning in my hand. So i put a piece of tape around where the needle gauge is. That helped. Put i now ordered those with a brib on them. Hope they work better.just strated thread crochet. Loving it. But i need to finish other projects too. Again thanks for your tips.

Did you only chain 2 after the magic ring because it looks like it’s a chain 2. Is it supposed to be 3?
Pattern is ch3 to represent a dc… this video was filmed many years ago, I may well have missed a chain when filming. Instructions are correct though.

Hello. On round 6, I tried thrice. The total stitches are 34. Don’t know what's wrong.
@@lehaco do you get 35?
@MezzaCraft sorry, it's 35 sts.
Hi, would you say its best to use cotton rather than acrylic?
@@job8109 yes, cotton would work well - it would add a bit more stability to the stitches so the fabric would be firmer

@@deborahshulamite9456 hi Deborah, thank you! I’m glad you like it. I have a tutorial but it’s part of my online “design & make a granny square sweater course”…. Link: mezzacraft.com/online-granny-square-sweater-course-signups/ I realise it’s not immediately obvious but I’m not a TH-camr but an in person crochet tutor. I’m afraid I don’t have enough followers or generate enough revenue from TH-cam to have all my work available for free. Nor do I have enough time to solely focus on TH-cam content to get there “one day”. I’m explaining this because sadly I have had quite a few messages & comments from people demanding why it’s not all available for free :-( … this is my profession and I have bills to pay 😂 I should probably do a video or something to explain all this but not sure it’s of much interest in a world where people seem to want everything for free 😭

This is the first time I’ve actually understood this stitch. As soon as you turned your work everything fell into place. Saying “horizontal and vertical” makes so much sense. Thank-you for the slow movement and brilliant explanation.

This is the best X stitch I have seen. Thank you.
Thank you! I like how neat it is!
Finally! I've never seen anyone else hold the yarn and the fabric the similar to how I do! Ppl always tell me it's "wrong". But I learned to crochet when I was 5. I can't ever recall having issue w my tension . I'm starting thread crochet and tunesian now too and appreciate the advice. I feel my eyesight may ruin it for me though.😢
Well, there's not really a "wrong" way to hold the hook as long as you're forming the stitches correctly and not risking any strain injuries. I think there's a lot of advice from people that don't actually have very much crochet experience past their own armchairs :-) ... I struggle with my eyes too ... I'm best in good, natural light and struggle at night when my eyes are tired :-(
I think you are correct in your thinking as the circle is a double crochet cluster within a treble stitch (US). Well done! I wonder if you should be finishing the cluster and then finish the stitch to allow for the final stroke at the top of the pattern? Rather than pulling through all stitches at the end, pull through cluster and then pull through final two as a separate stitch? Do it both ways to see which works better with the overall pattern. Double treble with a cluster.
yes, worth a try! Thanks so much for the feedback :-)
