#78: How a Diagnosis Changes It All: With Samantha- Host of Kids Storytime Favorites #homeschooling
Ever wondered how homeschooling can transform your child's educational journey? On this episode, Samantha from the Kids Storytime Favorites Podcast shares her unique experience as a homeschooling mom to her five-and-a-half-year-old daughter. Samantha takes us through the joys and challenges of educating an only child, from the intimate benefits of one-on-one learning to the liberating flexibility for spontaneous educational adventures. She also offers a heartwarming look at her shift to homeschooling, driven by a quest for a natural lifestyle after she received a cancer diagnosis and underwent brain surgery.
Samantha ends the episode with why she started the Kids Storytime Favorites Podcast, and the work she is doing to bring books to hospitals so children that are there can read along with Samantha and her daughter to their favorite stories.

My mother made so many errors. She has zero empathy about it. These mothers never have empathy!

I LOVE Erica’s work but i agree, given the nature of what she advocates for for children and her being Jewish, its astoundingly hypocritical for her to stay silent.

This information is so, so important, thank you for spreading it. I'm 24, I was lucky enough to be homeschooled K-12, and I will 100% be doing that with my kids. Children DESERVE the presence and one-of-a-kind nurturing capacity of their mothers, and their mothers are being stolen from them, by those who lie to women that being a stay-at-home-mom isn't a worthy pursuit!! It's despicable. No one can replace a mother's ability to neurologically calm their child _just_ by skin contact, her ability to give the child a healthy _microbiome_ from her own skin, her ability to cause that child to form secure attachment, which will affect their WHOLE life. I also love how you touched on women these days being bored with their kids. I see it all the time among my peers who have kids, and it breaks my heart. They can't stand to hang out with their own kids!! I think it MUST be the smartphones and the internet. What else has changed in the last few decades that has completely rewired our brains and attention spans?? Nothing. But Millenials and GenZ being raised for basically their entire lives on smartphones and internet videos and video games and social media... they don't KNOW how to sit and do nothing. I'm so glad my parents wouldn't let me have a phone til I was _18_ (and that was in 2019!!) I am ABLE to sit and do nothing. To just breathe and think. To be fascinated by a caterpillar, or a bird, or the sky. It's hard for me to imagine that my peers _can't do that._

Women are not taught the art of mothering. They marry weak men who agree to be feminized into splitting mothers duties. Millennials are focused on androgynous skills and lack feminine culture. Same for generations after them.

Homeschool kids seem to always have trouble interacting with "normal" kids. The Hard Core religiosity they tend to come out with doesn't help.

This is what I find worrisome about and having major doubts about is my 8 year old not reading yet. His best friend learned so much in his gr 2 year and is now reading novels. Also I don’t have a lot of extra money for art classes, extra curricular, hobbies, etc. I need to work more.

Have you tried reaching out to local libraries for any homeschooling recourse? Or playgroups/co-ops? And if you can do some free phonics lessons online, via TH-cam, that may be helpful!
