Hi Anthony thanks for you question sorry for the delay in getting back to you... the process of prepare the shower for application requires mechanical drying to dry out the extra moisture in the shower floor. After cleaning and prepare the surface, we then recommend that you leave a heater in the shower cubical overnight this will draw out all the excess moisture removing that issue. But to answer your questions, yes, the membrane is vapour permeable but vapour and water moisture are different things so we take steps to prepare the surface ready for the membrane applications.

Just looked it up!. I have a retaining wall made with interlocking stone blocks. Why would I use one of those bolsters for? I should judt pour hydrochloric acid and scrub like you did on that floor. That should work shouldn't it?

@@rudycramer225 depending on how long efflorescence has been exposed to the sun it can calcify and Hydrochloric Acid will be quite ineffective. when you crack the outer shell it will allow the acid to be more effective.

@@ClearWaterproofingMembrane Yes OK! But if I start attacking the blocks with a bolster I'll deface wall. The efflorescence has been there for ages, and I am suspecting the stone blocks are lousy with salt. The water comes through from the back of them, because there is a garden above and behind. I would say the seepage of the salt goes from back to front. Oh, well, I will just have to live with it.

@@ClearWaterproofingMembrane I live in temecula California. It gets very hot. I noticed that the clear finish started to turn grey. Then it sarted to flake off. The wind would blow the flakes into little pikes. My balkony is natural slate. Like featured in one of your demonstrations. It must just getting to hot here .

@@ClearWaterproofingMembrane I hired a general contractor he applied it step by step following your instructions. Why it is turning from clear to a matte silver finish, we do not know. And then it starts to flake off. In areas where it is not in direct sunlight, it is still clear and did not flake off. I did the pool house floors too. And a balcony on the north side.

Hi Jack Thanks for you comment you are correct, pure hydrochloric acid is very dangerous but used correctly is the perfect tool for the removal of Efflorescence. Im sorry that the video did not correctly demonstrate this i will put a request in to update it. The acid used here was purchased at Bunnings the local hardware in Australia nothing to specific.

Hi CL the box was first caulked on the junctions using the Soudal Joint Adhesive then sealed using diluted membrane as it is a porous material. Then two coats of the membrane were applied.

Hi Karl It can be used on tiled surfaces around pools but we don't recommend it for use in pools or for ponding locations constant water immersion can cause the membrane to blush or go a milky colour until it is dried off again.

Hi Ivan thanks for your feedback. However you need to consider the real reason why balcony leak which is due to movement of the substrate so even after people to waterproof and install new tiles above they still experience leaking shortly after. By installing the membrane on top it means that it is easily accessible if repairs need to be done if future as well as installing the membrane as per the substrate conditions. So the true savings with using the membrane is not being back in the same situation again

@@ClearWaterproofingMembrane You are just not right. I do balcony tiling ( and much more) many years and NEVER. had a problems. Using flexible tile mortar and silicone grout. NEVER !

@@vankoabv I'm glad you have had such success you are obviously good at what you do! This membrane is for people who are experiencing water leaks. Allot more goes into the success of a balcony than just the caulking and the grout. The movement in the substrate is what will ultimately decide if the balcony requires the use of the membrane or not.

To be fair not wrong, many factors involved but from what I've seen most common issues are waterproof membrane failure or lack thereof, cheap material and poor workmanship and of course movement which will always occur.
