Basic understanding of the 5 defensive hands used in an offensive manner found within Okinawa-te.

This video is just dealing with a couple of the basic 5 defensive hand positions that can be used in an offensive manner. The left angle can be used for many different applications from grabbing to jabbing to chokes etc. At 2:38 in to the video meant to say this is why we can strike.

There was many different openings to the kata. What's just as important is the meaning and breakdown of the motions. Here is just a couple of examples.

This is just one of many variations that can be done from this piece of the kata. After the lifting hammer under chin you can follow up with a hammer to the nose. The spinning also has many variations with kicks trips sweeps and throws.

This is just one of many ways this Juru can be done.

Here we are working with circles into a linear strike. This is just one of many techniques out of the kata.

In this video is some long arm techniques seen within the kata. This is just a very brief overview of the many techniques and applications. You can combine the snap with the long arm techniques.

This is just some basic flow patterns and breakdown of the kata. You can block with the bow and arrow and fire over the top with the punch if you like. Focus float flow through the kata staying loose with power behind your motions.

These are just some of the added techniques from the kata. There is many variations and flows from these moves shown. That sweep can be done flat footed or heel up to snap the front kick in fast. There's also circle sweeps that can be done with the rear leg sweeping forward.
