It’s not something that’d put me off the car. All cars have their issues they’re prone to, and it’s not all that common.

It does increase the fuel consumption drastically. Usually by 2L/100km

It will charge the battery to 20 Km worth of driving and then keep that up to that level. So that’s nice if your end destination is banning diesel emissions. When you engage the Save mode, it will start using much more fuel up to the 20 Km and after that point it’s pretty standard hybrid.

If you’re parked the car just uses the motor to power the vehicle. So no worries, unless the battery is completely dead then I’m not sure in that scenario.

I don’t understand what you mean. So they won’t repair the car at all or they won’t repair it under warranty?

@@AW-gj4ji Alex they won’t repair the car full stop I’ve paid £3808 to rebuild the engine and it’s now in the hands of the vehicle Ombusman who is completely independent and their decision is final. Bmw so disappointing on a massive scale

@@johnhill1421 That is very interesting it doesn't make any sense for BMW to do that. That's awful customer service, I could see why you would steer away from BMW.

When Full Self Driving becomes active and there is a benefit in the feature for drivers this will possibly increase the future value of cars with the feature. However, only if customers are willing to pay more for it on a used car. Currently you will be just adding the cost in total to the lease so increasing your payments. The cost of the option was discounted for very early adopters but now has settled into a from factory cost and retro dealer fit cost. Will it increase the cost of your next vehicle? Maybe but that could be down to the whole car anyway not just FSD.

The electric motor itself resists on two settings on the Golf, regular and it resists a little but better for coasting and “Brake Regen” applies more resistance via the motor to slow the vehicle whilst harvesting kinetic energy. It wont bring you to stop, for that you still need the brakes.

No. The electric motor doesn't need warm up in the way an internal combustion engine does. Additionally the electric motor is water cooled and this coolant is circulated around the diesel engine so that it's not starting from cold. Very cleverly thought out.

Based on the EA111, this new engine was announced at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show, to be first used in the Mk5 Golf GT, the 125 kW 1.4-litre TSI engine is a "Twincharger", and uses both a turbocharger and a supercharger. Its displacement downsizing leads to improved fuel economy, with 14% more power than the 2.0 FSI, but consuming 5% less fuel. The mechanical supercharger compressor, driven at 1.5 times the speed of the crankshaft, mainly operates at low engine speeds from tick-over up to 2,400 revolutions per minute (rpm) to increase low-end torque. At engine speeds just above idle, the belt-driven supercharger provides a boost pressure of 1.2 bars (17.4 psi). The turbocharger assumes full effectiveness at middle revs, and the engine map disengages the clutch-controlled supercharger at a maximum upper limit of 3,500 rpm; the supercharger will then be bypassed once the turbocharger spools up and reaches sufficient speed to provide adequate boost in the upper rev-ranges. This engine is made at Volkswagen-Motorenfertigung, Chemnitz.

It‘s not supercharged. It has just one turbocharger and no supercharger

Confirm, not supercharged, just turbo. Confusion arises because VW first used "TS" to denote the twin-charged (turbocharger + supercharger) engine but later spread that designation to cover all its turbo'd petrol engines. Now no longer uses twin-charged engines at all.

Not as clean and good luck getting the 330d on lease for as cheap as the hybrid.

Hi Lacweb, In answer to your question - Up to 70-80 but it does drain the battery quicker in pure EV mode at speeds over 60.

Hi, Thanks for watching. For around town, Plug in-hybrid, as long as you can recharge often, otherwise I would go regular hybrid. Out of town or long distances I would go diesel. Hope that helps Thanks
