The quality/price ratio aspect of Yamaha guitars is the best in the market IMO.

To talk like that he should have played a top of the line made in Japan revstar , but it looks that sweetwater don't want to lend that instrument maybe bc they are more interested into sell the low models made in Indonesia ,and BTW Indonesia make great guitars I have a few of them and probably I will go for the revstar ss20 this Christmas, that guitar is around 700$ a`nd it's way better than any 2000$ Gibson

It's called a dry switch on the version 1 guitars, and on those it drops the bass to sound more like a Fender single coil. On the version 2 guitars it's called a focus switch, and it drops the highs and boosts the lows and mids to sound more like a humbucker (as was demonstrated with the jazz example). edited: a word

I picked up a Cabronita quite cheaply a while back. Love the thing. I use it for my open tuning guitar. Great for slide. I've been told that the Cabronita pickups are actually P90s with a Jazzmaster cover. The big thing is that it's LIGHT.

Be warned that the Indonesian made are not the same quality as the MIJ. I received my brand new Revstar RSS02T packaged from Yamaha and it had two high frets, tool marks on the fretboard, cracks in the binding, a poorly fitted, poorly cut nut, fisheyed paint spots and back bowed neck. Yamaha customer service was non-existent. Luckily the dealer paid for a local luthier to fix it up short of the tool marks and water in the paint so be warned!

I've got the same guitar. The only thing I did was replace the cheap factory wiring with a 50's wiring harness. Big improvement over the stock one.

The point is you could record and play a same song with either one of this guitars. 90 % percent of guitar greats are associated with one model in particular for their whole career.

I agree with you. What is rare, far and few between are the actual, honest reviews on a guitar or piece of gear. Honest, unbiased opinions of: quality control, how does it stack up against other guitars in the price bracket, etc. I recently bought a Revstar Standard. My purchase had nothing to do with Yamaha's marketing. I didn't like the look of the double cut-away at first, but I kept hearing great things about it. Now I have one and it's awesome. I'm not a big fan of Rhett's videos or opinions.

The Jag holds its own. The bridge pickup with distortion sounds great and would cut through on stage. I still prefer the more rounded sound of the Tele.

I saw Rhett video time ago, I tend to agree with most of what he says except a couple of things. The hot merlot for example, Fender has been naming their colours in all sort of weird ways for 70 years and no one is bothered with it, plus ther colour actually looks like Merlot... Also the corny thing, I strongly disagree. But I stilI don't think Rhett is bashing Yamaha, he is just trying to explain why the Revstar is not yet a mainstream like others. Personally I don't see any beneffit of connecting an electric guitar with motorbikes, more the opposite, I could care less of motorbikes, but maybe that's just me.

I have both an Ibanez acoustic and a Casino Worn Olive Drab, and play both every day. Sometimes the Casino is plugged in.

I don't like the fact that the dog ear P90 pickups are not adjustable in height, unlike soapbar P90 pickups. With dog ear P90s you're stuck with the height that they come at from the factory.

I kinda want to trade in my Tele for a Jag now lol

New Player II version doesn't have slide switches on this guitar.

I just bought a Casino Worn Olive Drab. Exceptional guitar, and I'm a beginner playing through a Positive Grid Spark 40. If my volume is too loud I get some feedback when I play notes near the middle. Dial my volume back and it goes away, and sounds amazing. Great demonstration of the Casino.

That's great info. Could you do an acoustic compairison between a Casino and a semi hollow like an es 335 ?

Thank you for your perspective! Though I probably won't ever be able to afford a relic'd guitar (and likely would spend the money elsewhere if I did) I feel like I understand the draw now. So no more jokes... well, okay, at least 80% less jokes. ;)

It's those Gibson 57 classic pickups that make it sound so good. I purchased this guitar new in 2013 it's still the only Les Paul I have or need.

Big fan of Rhett. Clearly, his video on the RevStar was not well thought out. He’s just rambling and contradicting himself. Videos like this are the result of needing to continually feed the content machine.

Number 10, I had the same problem and I fixed it by just sticking a small piece of acoustic foam behind the bridge up where the screws are for bridge adjustments intonating the guitar. Believe the spring lost its tension and the looseness causes the rattle/buzz as you play it. A little piece of foam will do wonders for that.

I've been greatly enjoying my '21 Inspired by Gibson Firebird, it's nice to hear other instruments in the line look and sound equally nice.

This trick works even better (in my opinion) using a volume pedal, so you don't have to split your picking hand's attention, as it were. Just make sure it's before your clipping circuit whether that's on your amp or your board.

Very cool hearing in particular how much high end the Mustang pickups had over the Telecaster. I knew what a Les Paul sounded like, and I knew Mustangs have strat pickups (sort of) but didn't realize how much difference that actually made. I have to ask, unrelated: what is the faded semihollow offset in the back?
