Santa PEZ
Yes, we know it's not even Thanksgiving yet, BUT at our museums, we decorate early so that you can enjoy them while your family is in town for the big dinner. While they will be closed on Thursday and Friday, because our docents have families too, The Gold Rush, Bernhard, and Placer County Museums will open up Saturday morning for you to check out all the trimmings. While you wait, here's a sweet treat for your brain. It's an original Santa Pez from our collection.

Here's a little product demo we put together for Marvelseal 360. We're in the process of building long-term storage crates for part of our collection of ledger books that have been digitized. Moving these assets into long-term storage will give us the room to process and care for new acquisitions.
New 120-Year-Old Case on the Move
มุมมอง 34ปีที่แล้ว
When the local Medical History Museum closed they offered us one of their 120-year-old pharmacy cases. It's in great shape and a sight to behold. Just one massive problem: it was massive. Fortunately, a local moving company stepped up to get the job done. Thanks Auburn Moving and Storage!

Parts of it are justifiably paved over. Bulldozed.
Was also for a while an asylum for criminally insane till gov.Brown closed it put the people there onto the street.
DeWitt closed in 1972 under Governor Reagan. Brown did not take office until 1975.

We are! Contact our Program Manager, Bryanna Ryan at 530-889-6504 to get in on our upcoming volunteer training. And thanks for reaching out, Bill!
Thanks! Always fascinated by the Dewitt History..WWII, etc..
Our pleasure!
Thank you for acknowledging that most accepted estimates are dramatically insufficient, though I think more could be said about bias in numbers as well.

Terrible camera work.
Thank you!
can hot glue be used on Silicon mold?
Absolutely. Most silicone molds are good for over 500 degrees.
That cowboy coworker of yours is pretty lazy. He never even moved while you were doing all that work.
Yeah, he's a real piece of work. Can't seem to use his head for anything other than a hat rack.
Outstanding!
Glad you like it!
Jason's a star!!!
Isn't he amazing!?! The museums are so lucky to have him. (Disclaimer: this comment was written by Jason)
Beautiful! Looks so real! Thank you for sharing !
Thanks Maria! This was the first time we cast anything with hot glue and were pretty happy with the results.
@@placercountymuseums Great job! .....High 5!
This is very cool! Thanks from Lucinda in Oklahoma 😁
Glad you liked it!
I love it. I can hear the train around midnight pass thru Auburn. The engineering was excellent back over one hundred and forty years ago. I heard some of the poor Chinese would be shot come payday, I hope that is not true.
While there definitely was violence and racism toward Chinese at the time, it does not appear payday from the Central Pacific factored in. There were deathly accidents along the line and outside reports of Chinese miners being robbed and/or killed, but Chinese laborers were valuable to the company.
@@placercountymuseums thanks for correcting me.
Wonderful, I'll be using this resource!
What a valuable resource! Thank you!
Yay! Great news!!
Nice job, Ralph
Thanks!
Great production
Thanks Russell!
I just love my hometown of Auburn. Spent many years working with Ms. Burke at the DeWitt Theatre. Great video. Thanks.
have one and want to know it,s value ?
As a museum professional, I cannot ever give out an appraisal of value. However, you can look at online auction sites to see what similar items are being sold for. Don't focus on what an item is priced, instead, see what people are actually paying.
Rebecca Eagar IF IT IN GOOD SHAPE IT'S WORTH 1,000.OO OR12 HUNDRED
