I have done this, I speak Swedish and Russian I found some words/phrases are directly translated so you know what it means but it doesn’t make sense those sorts of things have never bothered me much though I do prefer to read a book in the language and t was originally written

Not a creator, but a reader speaking two languages on native level (not english). I've red multiple books in three languages. And through english isn't my native language, I've come to loath reading english books in any other language but the original. Especially german. I really lost all interest in german translations. They always seem somewhat less to me than the original works, like something is missing. I mean, kind of restricted. With ukranian there is less of the restriction. But I guess I became biased because of the german translations and may be prejudiced there. Reading technical or classic literature in other languages is fine though 😅 Reverse trials got me thinking german books are still better in the original language. But just so. That is mostly because if some not translatable stuff and humour. The english versions are quite good though. I remember someone in my study group telling that in french you can have great translations, as well as really poor ones. It's just what I heard and can't confirm it myself. Hope to be some kind of help. 😄

You should read the orginal version first in my opinion. I am a translator and some stuff can not be translated correctly and exactly between languages unfortunatelly. For example: time tenses. There are some time tenses in some languages that does not exit in other. I am a firm believer of reading the both versions. First the orginal, so you can get the rawest feeling what the author wanted you to get THEN the translated to understand it better.

Omg yes ive read books in their original version and then their translated version and i have to say books are sooooooooo much better in their original language. I dont know why so much gets lost in translation..!!❤
