I read this book, and it is SPOT ON.

I think that Frieren is so highly rated because so many anime fans are tired of the same formulaic plot lines and tropes. Frieren is a story told from a perspective we dont often see. The main threat is over and there is no escalation to the action, the focus is more about characters and their relationships rather than focusing on the plot and how the characters fit into it. Dont get me wrong there is still action and cool fights, but the pressure of a world ending threat is gone. The only tension that remains is interpersonal conflicts. Its a fantastic mix of slow burn story telling and character studies and action. There is something everyone can enjoy. That's why its number 1. You can find other anime that do specific things better than Frieren, but none that do everything it does as well as it does overall.

Sad that normies jumped ship not because it was unfunny but because the incestual sister was too icky for them. Def agree that if it was animated 15 years ago people would hail it as an all time classic.

Attack on Titan is more National Socialist than fascist tbh. There's a clear message on the importance on defending your own people from all sorts of villains who wish nothing but the complete erasure of your kin (wow this sounds very familiar... hmmm...) and even committing some unspeakable actions for the greater good of said kin - so that the future of your kin and Eldian children may be preserved (which is exemplified in Floch, my hero). I get that this video was a joke, but AoT is unironically a NatSoc anime. However, the average person would never notice that it is, and assume for whatever reason that the opposite is true.

Bullies are going to bully no matter what. It doesn't matter the color of your skin or even how good you think you look. They find weaknesses and attatch themselves to them. If they see you get upset over a name or a quote they will keep using it to hurt you... that's just what they do. You should learn to have a thicker skin. Fuck off tourist. I don't know how these people actually enjoy Alternative when the whole point is the characters. I guess they just think "oh haha, robot fight aliens" and skip all the so called 'boring' text. Most VNs are character based stories because they work best with the medium. Muv Luv is no exception to this. The reason you play Extra and Unlimited is because they are essential parts of the story and each character arc. You get NOTHING and I mean nothing if you play through Alternative without doing at least one route in both Extra and Unlimited. I guess you understand to story events and the lore but you might as well read the wiki if you're just reading it for that.

Hard disagree for a lot of reasons, a minor one being how Alternative is unofficially completely linear outside some inconsequential order of dialogue options. Not going any further on that, a lot to unpack, chucking the suitcase out the window to "see it later".
