Hot take, in my opinion Resident Evil 4 Remake is better than the original Resident Evil 4

Here's my little hot take, not sure if many would agree. While I love RE4R so much and think it's a 10/10 videogame, I still don't think RE4 needed a remake and it's criminal that it got a remake before Code Veronica (Also RE4 OG is better than the remake in my opinion because Ada, Salazar, Wesker, Saddler, and arguably Krauser were better, there are no stun locks, the death scenes are way better, the game is more stylized, Hunnigan is actually a presence and has a reason for existing (Leon never even tells her anything about the infection in the remake), the music is WAY better, there are more secrets and easter eggs, it fully embraces the campiness while still being an action-horror game, there are no DLC tickets that almost act as a pay-to-win for S+, it's more iconic as a result of not being modernized, and I think it's scarier than the remake)

Not much of a hot take, but I think separate ways is even better of a remake than the main game is. Bringing back tracks from the original game and even re2OG in their full glory and telling a story that felt a little more in line with the campiness of re4OG really made it a masterpiece.

I thought I would never see the Infinite Rocker Launcher on any other rank than 1 but here we are.

Hot take: Chapter 10 is genuinely the worst chapter in the game for me. Purely based on the bug room directly into the double Garrador room. The bugs just piss me off and drain my resources, and Garradors + normal enemies are infuriating. Is this a skill issue? Probably. Do I want to spray every single one of those bugs with aerosol and then light them on fire? Also yes.

the professional takes are all so true I had to buy the tickets for Chicago, use infinite knife and use the sniper clip bug before it was patched to get the s plus even now after buying the game on steam I couldn't put myself though that again and downloaded an "always s plus" mod from nexusmods

My criticism of re4 remake (cold take) -When enemy’s run into you you get fucking stunned and you get stunned by the smallest things ever like when a chicken runs into you or when you catch in fire -ganados with no weapons or even with weapons grab you to much my last playthrough I got grabbed 6 times straight by the cultist -ada voice actress was eh a 4/10 performance but she keeps saying “lights out” everytime you get a headshot with the rifle and it’s so god fucking cringe I wanna gouge out my ear drums (but I will say this remake Ada design is better)

Those voice lines are corny asf and TURN THEM THE FUCK DOWN SOME ARE BLARING IN MY FUCKING EARS DICKHEAD

All I'm going to say is that I can recognize "RE4R" is a well put together game...I'm just not personally a fan of it for a multitude of reasons, both subjective and even petty reasons. But I know I'm an outlier when it comes to this so I don't really have a choice except to just accept it and move on. If future entries end up being like "RE4R", which likely will be the case since it has obviously been the direction since "RE2R", I don't know if I'm going to be sticking around with the franchise any further to be honest.

Saddler was done terrible in the Remake. He was a really entertaining villain in the original who felt like he did not even believe most of the things he said and enjoyed taunting Leon. Remake is basically male Mother Miranda and barely in the game. Also, weapon switching and equipping a grenade takes way too long and feels sluggish.

12:28 You only get ONE Laser sight to use only on ONE out of THREE GUNS! You'd think they would have an unlock for ALL GUNS to have laser sight. While on the subject, it's not too late for Capcom to add the PRL 412. It's one of the only things missing from the Remake.

I feel this way for all RE Engine remakes, there are too many "immersive" micro animations that make skillful play a bit more frustrating than it should be imo. While I haven't tested it, I feel like Leon has several "I'M ON FIRE" animations that all blend together depending on player input which makes it more difficult to know when I'm going to have control again. In contrast, RE5 has one maybe two "I'M ON FIRE" animations so I know exactly when I'll have control again. In general I think RE4 (2005) and RE5 are FAR more tight gameplay experiences mostly due to the fact that you can't move while aiming. Also, just like RE8 Chris and Death Island Jill, I'm not a fan of the dour tone they went with Leon/Ada. Half of Leon's quips (and most all of Ada's quips) feel like forced fan-service.

i agree that ada is better in the remake the only thing i dislike about her is her voice in the maingame. In the dlc its alot better but in the maingame its like nails on a chalkboard. also her new dress looks kinda stupid but her main outfit is really good and respect to capcom for the abs imprint.

I think as far as the reticle thing, the shooting is just more realistic in 4R. It’s not that he’s worse at aiming. I personally like 4R more as far as shooting and combat. Feels so much better than 2R

I promise you boss, it's not a skill issue. I just don't fuck with how they added unnecessary rng to an otherwise consistent combat system. Who's problem is only exacerbated by the fact the most common enemy type (unarmed ganados) can completely ignore said consistency with their dumbass 50/50 of the punch and grab which only the former can be parried unless you're playing as Wesker in mercs. So in a lot of instances you are relying on your pistol for staggers, leading back into the issue with the game's bloom mechanics

I love the Salazar boss. He’s very simple. Never understood the complaints. I just stay on the bottom floor and bait him. Very easy to read attacks. There’s also the golden egg that deletes 70% of his health Pro is unbalanced but one tool makes it way easier. And I’m not talking about the Chicago Sweeper. I mean the flash grenade. If you’re investing in that often, most of the early game is a breeze and by time you reach the castle, you’ve got the upgrade for either the Chicago Sweeper or Handcannon. The maze? The courtyard in chapter 9? That place isn’t really long imo. Especially on repeat playthroughs when you know what you’re doing. It’s just a circle with some pretty good loot if you go off the beaten path. Gotta slow down a bit to take out the comillos before they get the jump on you but that’s it. Start on the left side and you should make your way around to the opposite end. Ada’s version is much of the same. Just get Gloria to run down a specific route which is fairly easy and gun him down while he’s at the top of the steps that leads to the center of the maze Salazar is arguably the least changed character in the game. He’s still the same slimy, pompous, immature, annoying, arrogant, whiny, brat of a man. I think it really is the hat that people miss because he really isn’t that much different. Maybe he’s a bit more creepier but that’s it.

The TMP is god tier. You just have to swap weapons a lot. It's great for stunning enemies and setting up for a kill. If an enemy is already stunned, you can mag dump with it to finish the job. On its own, the TMP is trash, but when you mix and match and try different combos, it breaks armies.

I mostly hate how the new voice actors just fail to be as iconic and intense as the original cast - also, the changes to Cliff's dialogue and Larry's design suck the big one. I wish they had instead just created a new game with new psychopaths instead of just rehashing the classics.

The first time she picked up the glock i grossed out. Not using a boring bland brick to kill zambies. A literal brick would have superior killing potential.

My own ranking, I'll do letter grades not worst to best And enhanced gun ammo will increase the weapon by two tiers (For Example: A tier to an S-) Knife: It's useful for like a single -molded- Jeffery at a time and that's it, I can't give it an d tier but it's close (C-) Survival Knife: literally the same thing as the normal knife but more damage and it cooler (C) 1911: Tbh, it got too much hate in the video. It's a great handgun that deals a good amount of damage towards almost everything. (A) P19 machine gun: It's basically a faster glock but with some damage reduced, it's pretty decent in the game and it's recoil, while bad, can be sloved by doing this weird thing where you move the reticle up and down, or just playing vr mode. (B) G17: It's a decent handgun with the highest ammo capacity for the handguns and is also just practical in general, not too much to say. (B-) Grenorde Launcher: It's a pretty powerful gun but the damage is a bit weird but it definitely does do some heavy lifting with some of the bosses and is also fine to use towards -molded- Jeffrey. (S minus on neruo rounds, S tier on flame rounds) M37: It's a good shotgun (as per usual) with good usefulness, my only problem is that it's kind of slow(ish) and can literally be ignored by. (A-) Burner: It is a good weapon indeed but it's really only useful for bugs and -molded- Jeffery can be effected pretty well but not too special. (B) Magnum: Yeah it does have a very weird design. Anyways the gun is very powerful so I'm going to rank it in two different ways, the ammo is way too scarce for it and it is way too impractical to use, other than that it is a powerful weapon. (S tier in terms of being powerful, C tier in terms of actually being useful, without infinite ammo that is) The Albert thingy: It is a very great handgun but I think the 1911 edges it out when the 1911 uses enhanced gun ammo, still the Albert is very powerful with really the only con being the ammo capacity (A+) Remote bomb: They are very powerful but considering the fact that they don't feel to practical to use, they just are kind of weird to me. (B) M21 Olympia: It's literally the M37 but on steroids. (A+) The Circular Saw: Hell Yeah (S+) Also I'm going to rank End of Zoe weapons and Not a Hero weapons now bc why not. End of Zoe stuff: Fists: It's the standard fists that Joe uses, they are ridiculously powerful and do a lot of damage. (A) AMG-78a: It's basically the unlockable for the AMG but it's a weaker version soooo (A+) AMG-78: It's basically the last weapon but on steroids, it literally abolishes everything and the only con is that you use it for like five seconds. (S-) AMG-78 Dual: Holy Crap (S+) Spirit Blade: This is more of a permanent healing item than a weapon, it does like zero damage but it heals you a good deal of health over time (C-) M21 Olympia: I think I already ranked this. Not a Hero stuff: The Albert thingy (but a little different): It's basically just the same thing from the base game but with nerfed damage (I think) and higher ammo capacity (B plus, Anti Ramrods increase the ranking to an A+) Thor's Hammer: It's probably the best shotgun in the entire game as a whole considering it does great damage, has the highest ammo capacity, and is semi auto (S-) Knife (Not a Hero): It's probably the best knife in the entire game since it actually does useful damage. (C+) Grenade: It explodes enemies pretty well and there is a good amount of these (A-) Neruo Stun Grenade: It stuns enemies, that's literally it. (C) Flame Grenade: It is a weaker grenade but it has flames (B+) I think I'm done lol.
