Elantra N : Vibrant Performance Resonator Swap
I was looking for a way to slightly increase the exhaust sound as well as the volume of the pops on my Elantra N.
After watching many videos of resonator deletes on TH-cam I’ve decided against it as I’m not willing to increase the rasp of my exhaust for the sake of extra volume.
I ended up purchasing a stainless steel Vibrant Performance 2.5”X12” bottle style resonator as a replacement for the stock resonator.
The video doesn’t really do it justice but here are my findings:
Exhaust noise in normal mode is almost unchanged, maybe 5% louder which is barely noticeable, no extra rasp.
In N Mode the exhaust volume is up about 10%-15% very nice deep tone, might even be a bit deeper than stock.
The pops and banks are a fair bit louder, maybe by as much as 20%. The pops and bangs don’t sound raspy at all.
Overall I’m very happy with the upgrade.

Was having the most fun on track during some heavy rainfall until it all went too sideways. This is a nice reality check of what can happen when things go wrong. I'm just happy that it ended the way it did and not worst. This is the gamble we take when we are on track, especially during severely bad conditions. Thank you for watching, stay safe!

Just get rid of it. I did that on the Kona N and it sounds better.
I’ve heard a resonator delete in person and it’s not for me. Yes it’s louder but I wouldn’t say it sounds better, too raspy for me

tested with sennheiser headphones and harmon kardon soundsticks 4 and can confirm only left side audio works :) none the less great driving and POV

@@vmaxauto I can't tell from the video but it seems like wheel hop is virtually non-existent! Thanks for confirming and that was one of my concerns with the car.
@@klvnpremium853 I don’t experience any wheel hop both on stock PS4S tires as well as 200TW track tires
Did you have ESC off? That is asking for trouble in my opinion my guy - especially in those weather conditions. But very glad you and the car are safe! Be careful out there.

The race hasn’t start and I already made my decision to get the baby BMW M030
it feels like riding the track really comfortably.
It’s design from the mind of the BMW M division, genius! It’s the most slept on car created and the new model is proof that N is here. Just like the v6 AMG’s, the M series B58, V-Series, Type R and S and all the A-Z. It’s a new kid in the block like Anthony Edwards and this wolf bites. Ps. This driver is amazing. Kudos to you my man.

I didn’t like the fact your camera position shows you and not the Blackwing you were chasing. Didn’t finish watching because of that view. Hopefully you’ll get it right the next time.

I find for these videos, mounting a GoPro to the hat has a really good angle. It's dynamic because it moves with your head, so if you look to the left lane to stare at a Corvette you'd see it on video. Will probably do your setup for track days, most orgs don't allow go pros on the helmet
@@shamalabadingdong I have some video with the GoPro on the helmet, however doing it that way I cannot run the external mic and power to the camera so it compromises the video in other ways. Good audio is very important to me
Your camera is way better placed than your other videos. Previously rear vision mirror obstructed too much.. also consider the billetworkz short teardrop gear knob, it’s sits way lower and the reverse lockout recedes into the gear knob.

How are oil temperatures on track? Does the Elantra N need an aftermarket oil cooler?
The highest temps I’ve seen with a 20psi tune was about 240 oil, 220 engine. Brake discs got to about 600, little to no sponginess.
@@promobius4603 115 degrees of oil is really good, was it on track? Also Stock brake pads?
@@danielsoto_toronto 240*, yes that is my track experience, normal operating temps are between 190-210. I have stock brake pads at 30k miles, still going strong. My lifetime mileage is 25mpg. My example is the 2022 DCT, Mods, 20psi tune, down pipe, intake, 3” turbo inlet. The car is track ready out of the box, punches above its weight class for sure.

@@danielsoto_toronto well not as fast. But it is fun and easy to drive, very forgiving. Everyone that gets in my car thinks it’s very nice inside, and for me, the duality of the car is why I bought it. It feels special inside, it doesn’t feel like an economy Korean shitbox. It’s feels like an economy bmw with spirit.

Thank you! It's a Billerworkz knob, very heavily weighted and improves shifter feel massively. It a GoPro on a suction mount attached to the sunroof

first of all: GREAT SAVE i watched the whole Video, you definitely know how to Drive you Car. i Saw you got a bit squirly twice before on that Curve, if it was me with my Elantra N, i would have taken it as a sign and went easier. You kept pushing hard, so you definitely got some steel spheres down there. I lived the Control to avoid the wall, really GREAT DRIVING. Hope nothing else got damaged, no matter what, if you had let her go, it would have been a lot worse once again GOOD JOB!

You’re right I was definitely close to the limit on previous laps on the same corner, that’s just my driving style, however on the last lap the conditions changed quickly and I believe I hit some standing water which caught me off guard. It was a good reality check and I will make sure to adjust my driving more to worsening track conditions. At the end of the day I’m very happy this happened rather than something worst. Cheers

@@MaxPwr176 hydroplaned going into T1 after the main straight and then I lifted the throttle a bit too much which made me lose the rear. I do believe if I would have stayed in the throttle a bit more maybe I would have dipped two wheels in the gravel and then straightened out. Good lesson
@vmaxauto what caused the rear to snap back? The kerb?
@@MaxPwr176 not 100% sure still, could be just the lift of the throttle which shifted weight off the rear wheels
