EP17 Seeing Cotswolds: Dog Friendly Weekend | Stow, Lavendar Farm, Steam Train, Broadway and a Zoo
Where to go in Cotswolds? Looking for dog friendly places to visit in the Cotswolds? Join us for our long weekend in the Cotswolds and our puppies' first holiday!
Stow-on-the-Wold
Stow-on-the-Wold, Cheltenham GL54 1AB
www.cotswolds.info/places/stow-on-the-wold.shtml
Our first stop was for lunch and a mooch around the lovely town of Stow-on-the-Wold.
We were there on a Friday afternoon so it wasnt too busy but couldn't find anywhere serving lunch as it was after 2pm!
Luckily there was a tea room in the main square serving food.
Parking is free on the main square and there are lots of shops to explore within walking distance.
Our favourite find was Talbot Court; a super cute alley with shops, restaurants and even a shop for Dim Sum!
Cotswold Lavender, Snowhill
Hill Barn Farm Cottage, Snowshill WR12 7JY
www.cotswoldlavender.co.uk/
Our next stop was a lavender farm which is open to the public for a couple of months in the summer and also has wild flower meadows and a woodland trail.
Parking is free and there are shaded seating areas and a shop selling refreshments and various lavender products.
It's really beautiful to see everything in full bloom.
Pear Tree Shepherds Hut, Greet
www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/47326234?source_impression_id=p3_1662500955_1j3pXKTASJafmtsR
For the weekend we booked a stay at Pear Tree Shepherds hut in the small town of Greet.
The hut is at the bottom of the garden of a residential property which backs onto a paddock.
It also had an enclosed private outdoor area so Dim sum could be off lead.
We couldnt find a dog friendly place which served food after 8pm so ended up driving to a town 5 miles away and just managed to nab some fish and chips!
Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway
Station Cottages, Winchcombe, Cheltenham GL54 5LD
www.gwsr.com
The next day we got tickets to ride the steam train! Our tickets allowed unllimited travel and there was small fee for Dim Sum.
Winchcombe Station is only a 5 minute walk from Pear Tree Hut and is one of 6 stations on the line which were all re-built by volunteers in the original style.
Riding the train was a relaxing way to enjoy the beautiful cotswolds scenery especially when the weather was too hot for Dim Sum to be walking around outside.
Each train has a buffet car serving drinks and snacks.
Broadway
20 High St, Broadway WR12 7DP
www.broadway-cotswolds.co.uk/
After riding the length of the line to see all the stations we got off to explore the lovely town of Broadway.
It's a 15 minute walk to the town from the station
and on the way a guy watering his garden was kind enough to soak Dim Sum for us to prevent her getting too hot.
Broadway Deli
29 High St, Broadway WR12 7DP
www.broadwaydeli.co.uk/
The town has lots of shops and restaurants to explore and came across Broadway deli; a deli and cafe which allows dogs in both the indoor and outdoor seating areas.
They even have a section for dog treats which Dim Sum got to pick her havourite.
Most of the shops also allow dogs and we came across another Dim Sum shop!
Winchcombe
High St, Winchcombe, Cheltenham GL54 5LJ
www.winchcombe.co.uk/
After a bit of rest and a snooze back at the hut we headed down to explore the nearby town of Winchcombe and grab some dinner.
The Lion Inn
37 North St, Winchcombe, Cheltenham GL54 5PS
www.thelionwinchcombe.co.uk/
I had booked the Lion Inn for dinner which is a dog friendly hotel and restaurant.
As it was quite late most of the places in twon were closed so we just had a quick wander.
Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens
Bradwell Grove, Burford OX18 4JP
www.cotswoldwildlifepark.co.uk/
Going to this dog friendly zoo was the whole reason for going to the Cotswolds! Dogs are allowed in all the outdoor areas of the zoo and there is lots to see.
She was ready for a nap by the end of it!

I used a Joby mini gorilla pod grabbed onto the handlebars but it kept coming loose and pivoting out of place. Also the stabilisation on my camera is rubbish so footage was very poor on the bike. If I were to do it again I’d try strapping the camera to somewhere on me. Good luck!

A tiny bit of critisism, please don't take it too seriously, ......it's Loch.....not Lock.......say it as if your'e... err .....sort of clearing your throat, or even pronounce it as Loh Lomond.......Loh sounds better than Lock. Lovely wee video though and you got great weather too , well done 🙂
