Heat 2 of the European Athletics Championships 2024 in Rome . . Despite sitting in the back of the group and almost falling, Jakob Ingebrigtsen took the 1st place, showing his unmatched skills once again. Two days later, the first 6 athletes of Heat 1 and the first 6 of Heat 2 will compete in the final . . . . #athletics #1500m #rome
It's so weird that he has so much strength in breaking a record they said would never been broken, yet come in 4th in the Olympic 1500 and just look so weak and puny and pathetic. The human body is just full of mysteries. I believe his Olympic lost had nothing to do with physicality, I believe it was all mental or psychological. If he can't get that right he will never win another 1500m at that level, if he gets it right and he's just 24, he'll be unbeatable!
10:06 still did a final 100m of 13.8 though
Incredible
Dope perfomance.
see this i wondered if he could run below 12:30 for 5k
Kejelja has the indoor mile record at 3:47, Jakob has a more impressive indoor 3:30 which is closer to 3:46 low I believe
Hard to agree with that given that Kejelcha's split at 1500 meters was 3:31.25. This is only 0.85 seconds behind Jakob's 1500 WR and Kejelcha continued another 109 meters.
@carlpeterkirkebo2036 so he faded hard the last 109 then in a 16? That's barely sub 4 mile pace by the end, Jakob usually doesn't tie up like that
@ The math is as follows: A mile is 1609.344 meters. He used 15.76 seconds from 1500 meters to the finish line. Hence, this corresponds to 1609.344/(1609.344 - 1500) * 15.76 = 231.96 seconds. I.e. 3:52 mile pace. I won't call that barely sub 4 mile pace although I agree he seems to have tied up a little.
@blainejohnson9954 I noted that your question has has become even more relevant and interesting after Nuguse's world record in the (indoor) mile. I think I read that Nuguse's 1500 m split was 3:31.75. Hence he passed exactly half a second after Kejelcha but still managed to finish 0.38 seconds ahead. Thus Nuguse ran the last 109 meters 0.88 seconds faster than Kejelcha. It will be very interesting to see how Jakob will approach his upcoming mile in Lievin February 13th.
One of The best track races ever!
10:30
Imagine if Komen had the shoe technology we have to today it's not Jacob's fault he is a runner in the 2020s Komens record is still more impressive
Jakob best 😊runner ever! 😊
Incredible 🔥💪👍
closed out the final lap in 55.45? just superhuman.
Hail to the king🎉🫶
Something that’s not focused on as much but is still amazing is that Aregawi’s performance in this run is now the 3rd best 3000m of all time, behind only Ingebritsen and Komen. Imagine running what would have been just under world record pace before this race and that still not being enough to win!
Jakob ❤😊big fan
Next world record aregawi
That day Daniel Komen felt a disturbance in the force.
Jakob is an otherwordly athlete. When Komen did 7:20.67 his final lap was a 59.09 When El Guerrouj did 7:23.09 his final lap was a 59.67 When Bekele did 7:25.79 his final lap was a 56.03 Jakob did a 7:17.55 with a 55.4 final lap. Absolutely insane
55s is my 400m time😂😂😂
Happy 🎉🎉🎉
Age is still on his side, lets go JACOB 🎉
Glorious.
Jajajaja. 8 balones de oro.
I don't think I am wrong in this; there is no other sport which uses rabbitts. It is such a testament to the respect these athletes have for each other. In this instance the rabbit was paid, yes, but there have been other world records broken with teammates who act as rabbits without the paycheck, sacrificing their own run to help another. I can't remember for sure but I think one of Haile Gebrselassie's world records happened when his teammate rabbited far beyond the normal mark. Such great running from Ingebrigtsen here, truly. You know his lungs and legs had to be on fire that last 6-800 meters. I get so pumped up seeing world class athletics. I was never anywhere close to this level of running, but I remember the training and it wasn't easy. 1.5 mile warmup, 8x800m repeats uphill, jog down. 1.5 mile cooldown. Or 20x200m on track. Ugh, I get tired just thinking about it. Well done, indeed.
Another example is El G in the 2000 Sydney Olympics 1500m. His teammate paced him and El G ended up getting second to Noah Ngeny.

Insane WR
Jakob has speed and endurance
Good running spirit from the Ethiopian ( Barega)
du er genialt JAKOB !!!!
damn the other guy in second wouldv beaten the world record also crazy
Nope Komen was 7:20
That was a 2:27/km 🙌🏻
If Komen had the shoes, tracks, and training of today, he'd have done 7:10
If the neanderthal running from a sabre tooth had Komen's gear, he would have run 6:50
@@bjelar Homo neanderthalis was not Komo sapiens, so would be ineligible in the record books
"... training of today ... " Sounds like Komen ran in the 1800s.
@@carlpeterkirkebo2036 no, but tracks, shoes, diet, training has changed a lot, and in Kenya around 1990, 30+ years ago, it was very different
Praise to the announcers too! That was a fantastic call especially the increasing energy coming down the final stretch. It was worthy of this great effort by Ingebrigtsen and will be a fun backdrop to countless future returns to this record and memorable video. Ingebrigtsen is such an amazing time trialist. He keeps getting beaten in championship miles and he wants to win those more than anything. Nevertheless, no one can stay with him when he takes on the clock. Amazing past medalists are separated from him after just two laps and even the bravest opponents watch him just run away from them in the latter stages of this 3K.
aredawi kejelcha bekele yihney great run
I believe he can run 100 metres under 9 seconds.
Lol
Ingebrigtsen may have gotten the timing off in the Olympics, and credit to Cole Hocker on the incredible win, but no question that Ingebrigtsen has proven himself to be the overall strongest runner in an era of many strong runners. He just has an unbelievable amount of strength at these distances.🎉💯
I just love this dude, he is fabulous
HICHAM EL GUERROUJE 2.26.00 EN 1500 M MOROCCO
Gracias.
If we really think about it Jakob is already better that the great Hicham El Guerrouj
Nah. Come on.
Insane skill! Even the pacemaker ran a sub-4-minute mile
Last lap in 55 sec😮
Jealous russian once again
The greatest distance record alongside kiptums marathon record in my opinion. This is what happens when the best 5000m runner in the world mainly focuses on the 1500m; you get the 3000m WR. Jakob continues to say that the half marathon is where he has most natural talent, it just happens that he is able to use that engine efficiently in shorter distances as well. What a time for running!
You're conveniently ignoring the Distance gods...Bekele, and Gebrselassie. He's not at their level, as of now.
@@anodyne57 as of now.
@@anodyne57 He's acknowledged in an interview that they are still the greatest distance runners as of now, but knows what he needs to do to surpass them. I think he's got what it takes. The 5000m WR is the next step.
Sub 7:30 for 3k is extraordanary, sub 7:20 is unbelievable - chapeau
