Can you do this even just a single rope or does it have to be a double rope
It's a single rope wrapped around a solid object, so you can retrieve it at the bottom by pulling it

The comment is six years old, but if I found it, someone else can so I will reply. If everyone had to speak in perfectly conditioned statements, we would never be able to ask someone if they would like a beer. "Well, is that a lager? What kind of lager? Is that lager boiling hot? Was acid added to it? Would I have to chug it in 30 seconds?" The statement about "just about anything" is true. Pretty much anything with a face (not counting faces on creatures) can be rappelled. The fraction of rock faces and other structures that are technically too difficult to rappel is small. The clear majority can be rappelled, though they might be boring and pointless to do so.

i have never seen that done before....very rad...probably won't try it, but good to know in case i am ever on top of something really high and i happen to have a really long piece of rope :)
If you try it the wrong way, you can die. Even the right way can go badly quickly if you lean back too far and lose awareness due to sudden disorientation.
