2002 Yamaha WR250F “starting drill” walk through
มุมมอง 23K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Sharing my discoveries towards proper starting procedure after living with a 2002 Yamaha WR250F with manual decompression lever.
I love this song❤
How much will you charge me to look at my bike
Ive got 02 wr250f great bike when it wants to
I love you
Dont buy a 2001 yz250f because you cannot get parts for a discontinued bike once it brakes its a pile of garbage. Thanks to the goverment rules forcing yamaha to discontinue the bike politics ruined it for everyone. Now if you buy the new goverment controlled bikes your good until they change the rules again notaries they are for doing this.
I watched your "starting wr250f" video. I have trouble starting my 02 wr250f, I don't see a decompression lever anywhere, is it a manual lever or automatic decompression? (Like on my 1980 Honda xl250s, there's no decompression lever, its built-in/internal)
I have an 02 wr250f, I don't see the decompression lever?!
some dont have them but if there is it should be near the cluch lever
You can replace the exhaust cam with a 2003-2013 exhaust cam that has auto decompression, your bike probably has had some parts switched
Andy - you have dialed-it-in with the TDC and then solid-hard kick at next TDC; i have the same bike, but practice also the same method on all of my 2cy and 4cy machines; lately, everyone also will need bumper-to-bumper soft parts / gaskets on that FXR MX carb including the mid-body gasket kit - dial it in, keep a fresh plug in it - and it WILL start like this exactly - good job and thank you!
Where was this
I can’t start tha shit
Te Amo te esperamos en Argentina ojalá pudiera verte 💚💛💜
does it need a piston change every now and then?
U talking too much just start the bike
This is how also the 400 or 426 is started. From my experience on teaching others, they tend to kick it too soft or too slow. Yes, when you learn how to do it feels natural, but most of people have a "chicken leg" when they 1st try. The move must be strong and fast, hard. I almost cried next to my 400 in my 1st weeks when I dropped it on the trails and I was not able to start it back, but practice makes perfect. If dropped, gas full open decomp on and 10-20 fast pedals to ventitale the ebgine will do the trick 100%. Great video.
Can a electric start be hooked up on this bike
You likely know this by now, estart introduction began in 2003.
This is by far the best video on TH-cam
Wow, thanks! I too thought that the video tutorials could be more descriptive as to what is actually happening.
When you reach top dead centre without using the decompression lever is it possible to kick it all the way through? Or is it like trying to kick solid ground. Trying to get an old one of these running and having compression issues. We can kick it all the way around without the decompression lever (with a fair amount of effort) pretty sure it shouldn’t be possible but unsure
You likely want to look into performing a leak down test. When you kick down to TDC, it should be really tight. If it’s passing through, I suppose there could be issues with the decompression sticking or little compression. Join a WR owners page on FB, very helpful when diagnosis is in order.
It’s possible just really fkn hard I have a lever and sometimes try it
I just got my 2002 WR250f. The guy I bought it from was selling because he couldn't start it consistently. Took a little reading, but it typically starts for me on second kick cold. Can't wait to get it out on the trails. Is your bike super snappy off the bottom? Mine seems 'too' snappy when you crack the throttle when rolling slow.
Yeah dude, this WR was in the same situation. The PO wasn’t aware of correct technique. I researched through video and read so much, then dialed in this technique from a riding buddy who was well versed with a YZ426. Ultimately, I installed stage 1 Hotcams for the auto decompression. Makes a great difference in potential frustration. I also think dialing in the fuel/air screw, jetting, and AP pump make the difference for Consistency. Recently, I began giving 2 full twists before starting with choke on. They say not to touch the throttle but I’ve had a 1 kick machine since November. Toughest part of early WR ownership is stalling and dumping, Frustration mounts anytime you visually see fuel pouring from vent tubes when the bike has been laid over hot. You have to trust in the hot start plunger, do research on clearing the cylinder, especially if you keep the Manuel decompression. PM me through messenger if you would like to talk more. (277 WR250F number plate as profile.)
Oh yeah, I like to clutch a bit more than most, I think. I know the snappy you are referring too. My style feels smooth and I dialed in clutch cable adjustments. Check out the washer mod for the clutch, and all of the free mods. Your bike could be more YZ then you think!
@@andykelly656 I haven't had the clutch cover off yet, but all of the other free mods have been done. I've never ridden a yz250, but my guess is it feels a lot like my wr. Still haven't had it out on the trails... waiting for them to open. The washer mod is to make it easier to find neutral, right? OR are there other benefits?
have a 2001 wr250r . I wanna ride it really bad buts its my first real dirtbike and I cant get it going for the life of me . The valves are adjusted the carb is adjusted. My dad can start it first kick every time hot or cold.but no matter how many times he shows me or I try I cant start the pig I watched the vid a view times but i still cant get it . Any suggestions? .
@@easylee1417 You could try leaving the kickstand down, and stand on the pegs to transfer as much body weight as possible. Mine is pretty easy to kick... so long as you use the compression release. Without the compression release, it's nearly impossible to kick over. Push the kick start down until it won't move, pull the de-comp lever and push the kick start just a tiny amount, release the de-comp lever, and then kick down quickly using your body weight and leg strength. DO NOT twist the throttle until it's idling. Also, pull out the black choke knob when it's cold. Mine starts easy, and it's very hard to kick.
if u guys wanna see a profesional rebuilt wr look ahead on MY channel
I have the same bike dude......... my is fully rebuilt tho urs sounds weird
What sounds weird about it?
@@andykelly656 when u start it put it ear near the bottom end and listen
@@jimbobroy5566 Do think this 19 year old motor needs a main bearing? When I did the hotcams install, I replaced the timing chain with flywheel off of course. The crank had a tiny bit of side to side play, but not up and down.
@@andykelly656 still look at MY video of wr 250f that what it should sound like
@@andykelly656 I have an 01 wr250f it sounds like this 👍🏽
