I know this video is more for the dudes actually doing or have done this swap, not exactly the most exciting video to watch but wanted to put the info on here before tearing into it again. Very excited for the next stage on this thing hopefully starting very soon !

Really didn’t plan on posting anything about this until the car was done but I really enjoyed the Cummins swap series and I’d really like to document my first real serious car build. This will be a slow series but I hope to make it as informative and cool as possible wether people watch or don’t haha

Wasn’t very happy with how poorly put together this video was but that’s how it is sometimes! Anyone that has questions about the shifter I’m putting out a video covering just the shifter didn’t want a long segment in this video for people who didn’t care. Excited to keep pecking away at this thing

I can’t remember if I mentioned it in the video or not but the down pipe used is a modified 1st gen cummins down pipe from diamond eye also if there’s any other questions please comment and I’ll answer it in the next video ! Sorry this one wasn’t super great just wanted to get a video out

For those looking to do this swap as well I got the engine mounts on eBay they are the most common one and don’t require cutting to the firewall just the front cross member !

Huge shoutout to drift Indy for putting on events like this, every event they put on is such a blast. I had so much fun on this day it may be hard to tell in video but I was unbelievably stoked can’t wait to drive more with everyone! Hope you enjoyed the video I know I did ❤️

Im doing the same swap, how did you connect the chevy driveshaft to 47re? Must you cut it and is there some chevy/dodge joint? Thankful for tips. And thank you for your videos👍
What do you need the vacuum pump for on this build?
really easy to get your tach reading from the alternator one wire to 1 pole in the alternator and your good if you are doing a 1 wire alternator its a piece of cake to hook a wire up while you're in the alternator. id get rid of "fred" thats what we called the older computers in automotive tec college the crank position sensor is where a lot of people hook the tach to and they are junk ! the less electrical crap you put in the better off it will be dependable wise ! that 12 v doesnt need much and its rolling thunder . the lights blinkers and wipers are really all anybody needs. ive got a push button starter too i got a carbon fiber toggle switch panel from evil bay has a red cover toggle a engine start button and 4 toggle switches for other stuff. headlight switches always go up in smoke so i toggled my headlights , lift pump , and wired the start button direct to where the starter relay plugged in . what a crappy system dodge put in these ! they really were trying to sabotage a great motor !

For anyone who has a first gen , by pass the high current that goes through the ignition switch on the steering column through a 50 amp relay . Just use the ignition switch to activate the relay .
After watching this video, it's very easy to see that you don't know how to do research and plan ahead before you do something. You really need to do this....because everything you've done is making a good truck unsafe, not saleable, and just a POS parts truck. Because anyone with common sense is going to see all the hack work you've done and see that you make a good truck into a 500.00 truck. People can build a really good drift truck by doing the exact opposite of what you've done.
Same problem on my 94 talked with dealer yes upgrade to led less pwr pull down plus it's actually a poor design of the internal of the switch mechanism or contact pins of the internals its self not makeing proper contact not the plug units the pins can be individually plugged in w/o that plastic cover & being able to breath/vent
Wow, I have a 96 Dakota, a nice one. A nice one with the same problems. Pull the headlight switch and all my guages go out. Turn the dimmer all the way down and they come back on but not with the correct reading. Thanks for the video.

@@omxegaming3259you got me beat, mine just rolled over 90. So l think I'll remove the plug,and wire it straight up like he did. Do you have a sagging headliner also?
Mine has the same problem but a couple wire melted behind the cluster as well, someone did a janky job on the fuse box when connecting some wires I had to fix a bunch but my truck so far has been running solid
What size 420's and any spacers trying to get mine to set like this
305/40/22 and 3in spacer up front 2in in the rear because I have a 2nd gen axle

COMPRESSION FITTINGS? REALLY? This is when a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Somebody passes on information on here that can actually get people. killed. Hopefully this numbskull is the first to Go. nALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS DOUBLE FLARE BRAKE LINES. Not just flare, DOUBLE FUCKING FLARE. Holy shit..
Sure if this was the front brake system I’d be concerned this is the rear brakes on a 32 year old truck they hardly work as is let alone enough to kill someone if a line popped also blowing a old rusty brake line is just as likely if not more to happen than this ever failing. So kindly get fucked 👍🏻
take those tail lights apart and make them into clears, would be simple and cool thing to do
So I have a couple ideas more to help you get it lower. 1. A slider kit to replace the shackle setup, and 2. get some springs with reversed eyes. Each of those should get you another 1-2" lower for a total of up to 2"-4" lower combined. TBH, I wouldn't want to run much lower than the high side of a 4x6 piece of wood anyway, but you do you.
how is the cap sound on highways ? are you going to install insulation ?
It’s not awful but it’s not ideal mostly because it’s still open down pipe and the gearing is super short so it’s revved out pretty high currently. I do plan on insulating the cab I’ll be going over all that in a video here soon !
Best thing i did to mine was shitcan those tanks and swap in the 40 gallon suburban tank back behind the axle

Why did it melt because mine melted also
For the fuel tanks, I would want to run the fuel to the bottom of the left tank. That would reduce any bubbles or foam that could be created from the fuel falling.
When I fill my tank with fuel at the pump I fill it from the top,I have never had problems with bubbles in my fuel yet. Do you fill your tank from the bottom when you go to the station to fill up your tank. In other words STUPID comment.

My 1998 dodge ram 1500, has the same problems. I just wired it like you did, it doesn't start now. what size wire connectors did you use??

Looks good man. I'm in the process right now with an 88 r30, 95 12v and built gm 4l80e with a billet converter. The fuel system can be a bit tricky but take your time and check your work.
Dang a 4l80 behind it that’s different didn’t know they even made an adapter for that
Destroked Diesel makes a bunch of adapters for different engine/trans combos.

Hey buddy , I was looking at doing a 3” body on my 92 dodge 2wd , lol and I just got a few questions, for the front end under the radiator bolts and mount did you need to take your radiator out also just if you have any tips that would be appreciated
