Tony can be a dick sometimes, But He Has Good Intentions!

There's a few problems with this scene. It'a a brilliant scene and we all know it -- we've all seen it. But: 1) The child doesn't know what he's saying and is being used for the film. 2) The adults apparently all agreed to go through with this. 3) A child was a main protagonist in this movie. How was it worth it to do. And how did they come to the conclusion that is was worth it. From what I know "Danny" did okay in life. But how is this NOT child abuse? and why are we entertained by this?

Ohhh his reaction when he asks him about room 237. Scared the hell out of me when I was a kid and still sends shivers today.

There is something subtly disturbing and violent in this scene, it's all a set of subliminal messages that strike at an unconscious level. Halloran's change of tone terrified me from the first time, even now if I watch it when I'm at home alone I can feel shivers

I think the maze doesn't exist. It isn't in the opening shot from above. The maze is the kitchen (Wendy even says it is) and I think Jack froze in the freezer. That is why there is an extended shot with the camera moving forward in the freezer.

The only "shining" here is this mans reflective forehead

Who uses such knives in the kitchen? Some are akin to scabbards or swords! What butcher would employ such outrageously long knives? They just don't belong in a kitchen. Kubrick really didn't want us to miss them hanging there over Danny's head!

One of the most intriguing scenes in the movie.

This is so real. Oscar caliber both of them. So powerful and perfectly underplayed. Best kid performance ever. These 2 stole the film I think. lovable.

They say Kubrick was never an actors director, yet I find this scene to display one of the most captivating performances of all time-let alone Jack Nicholsons portrayal of jack Torrance.

They seemed kind of makes me cry cuz it's all all kinds of crazy s*** going on in this world
