I mapped out a similar ride I hope my friend and I will do next time I am back in Norway. I would like to go to the Lyngen Alps by way of Manndalen (Sami village, site of the Riddu Riddu Festival, and other sites associated with Jan Baalstrud, Norwegian WWII resistance fighter); overnight in Olderdalen, then returning to Tromsø by way of the ferries from Olderdalen to Lyngseidet and from Svensby to Breidvik. Thanks for sharing! You got me motivated! 😉

This video is especially significant for me. Even though we did not connect, you and Marion showed me another vantage point over looking Ersfjord. On my last full day, my friend and I took a bus from Tromsø to Ersfjordbotm. We spent several hours walking from one side of town to the other. I could not climb like you two, but my friend did hike up the waterfall quite a ways. We saw two reindeer walking the road, and lounging on the beach. It was indeed a magical place and wonderful send off for me. Thanks for sharing your adventure.

You're such a tease! I will be arriving in Tromsø in one week! And, I will be there for 3 months. Being elderly and bit out of shape, I will start off slow exploring around Tromsøya. Then it is my desire to hike up toward Tromsdalstinden. I´m not sure where the Sherpa Steps start, so the first time I will take the cable car up the mountain, then down the steps to know where they start. Thereafter go up and down the steps. I live in the mountains of California, but the past several weeks and days it has been too hot to hike (36C+) so looking forward to a cooler climate! Your videos continue to inspire me. Any tricks to deal with the flies and mosquitos?
Mosquito spray, smells good too, wow 36+C! unbearable i must say. But you're welcome to the north and hope you like it.
Hi! Outside the Tromsø area there are flies and mosquitoes, but not too aggressive for blood. In Alta further north there are full of mosquitoes where you need something to protect you from them.😊
You can buy it everywhere for mosquitoes. I don't really use it, the insects of the forest are friends. 🤗👍

Thank you for sharing your adventure to Nordcapp! It was fascinating to see the similarities between the Sami Peoples and the Native Peoples of North America, similar lodgings and sweat lodges. Here the Indigenous people rely on the buffalo, as the Sami on the reindeer. I had to chuckle when I saw you sawing the tree! I have exactly the same saw and rack to cut my firewood! Safe travels. I'll be in Tromsø next week!

It opens when big snow appears in Tromsø, that is from December to May. Many young people from the Tromsø region ski on all the mountain tops here from January until the snow disappears. Be careful, many die here because of avalanches.🤗👍
