Hello Mr. C Austin here it’s been a while I thank you a lot for teaching me in 4th grade made extremely good memories! I hope you have a great day!
Thank you, Austin! I am glad you have those good memories. I very much do also. Hope you are doing well and have a great holiday break. Always do your best and you will be the best!
Oh man, my family and I had a get together a few weeks ago and we were talking about this. Gonna have to send this to my mom she'd love this video. I was 6 at the time and still remember going on the bridge and the waves/water lapping up onto it.
I lived at 910 Pennsylvania on quality hill in 1993. It was unreal to see a whole house, big trees etc floating down the river.
I was 8 then and I remember not being able to play very many baseball games and it sucked... kinda ruined the summer for me
Do you remember me I’m austin and I got my first honor roll! Is it good.
Of course, I remember you, Austin. That is very good to hear! Sounds like you are doing all the right things. Keep up the good work.

Born and raised in Kansas City, remember that like yesterday.
Remember the Cemetery in Hardin flooding and the Caskets floating in the water?
Yes I do, I lived in the north end of Kansas city during this, that cemetery in Hardin today still has the headstones all piled together In it.
Band organ is playing "Waiting For The Robert E.Lee" written by Lewis Muir. (according to Wurlitzer historians...) I wish to own one of these band organs(this specific model). Only 3 Wurlitzer 155 Monsters exist: They are this one, one in Robert Gilson's collection in Wisconsin, and the oldest one in Arkansas. The Kit Carson one is the youngest, built in 1909, serial number #2453 from Elitch Garden's Skating Rink(the carousel had an european band organ when it was first made in 1905, only when it sold to Kit Carson County in 1928 did the Wurlitzer 155 Monster take over). Oh and I just noticed a picture of geese at 0:22. Absolutely perfect choice of painting PTC had as I'm a goose lover myself. I recently learned that an amusement park very local to me called Pine Island Park once had a Wurlitzer Monster in their dance hall! Unfortunately, Pine Island Park closed in the 1950s and nothing remains of the park today except for a sign. I have no idea what became of the organ.
@@aaronb5060 I'm very well aware of Pine Island Park, I have a downloaded picture of what I think is a painting of the Roller Rink with a Wurlitzer 155 in it. It could very well be the one that Robert Gilson now owns. Pine Island Park also once had the first Philadelphia Toboggan Company carousel built in 1904. It burned to the ground in 1961.

in the 90's my daughter and I would go from KC> Chicago a lot. Back then you could fly Southwest for $80 round trip to Midway, catch the orange line to State, catch a bus to the hotel. The transportation pass was $5 for 3 days. It was so cheap back then. The Democrats have ruined Chicago with taxes so high, a trip to CHI now is as expensive as any other city is now from KC. I hate Democrats.
I was working in Briarcliff at that time, driving everyday from Olathe. I remember being in awe of how high that river was so close to coming over Broadway by the airport, and the amazement of the level walls ( the poured concrete) holding all that water in the river.
Thank you....
You're welcome!

Flood of 2019 is happening now
I Remember this.. My brother lost everything I also remember it rained for days weeks
Hey, gT. I'm working on a flood anniversary video for Main Street Parkville. Can you email me by chance? I have a couple questions. mitch@tototv.video
Nice That kitcarson carousel looks huge
Not actually aware of how big it is having never been there but it is very, very, very fast. Faster than nearly any other american carousel. Spins at around 10-12 miles per hour. Still looks like how it did back when it was built 117 years ago(therefore said, it has the EXACT paintwork it had when it came out of the Philadelphia Toboggan Company Factory in 1905. It was the 6th PTC carousel made and is the oldest existing PTC carousel anywhere).
Amazing piece of history
Gorgeous!!!
This is great gT! :-)
thanks! a fun little side project. :)
Loving your nature video's! Just subscribed
hey thanks! ... never even noticed this comment til now. hope you are well.
i was there when this happened. @ 2:24 is a wall around the west bottoms business district. police were letting people drive in at their own risk, the flood would crest at 50 feet and you could literally get on a ladder and reach over that (10 or 15 feet tall) wall and touch the water. the business was open so i went in. you had to be crazy to stay down there during this but people did, if that wall had failed it would have looked like new orleans after katrina in a matter of minutes. amazingly the wall held as did the giant earth and rock levee that held billions of gallons of water. kudos the civil engineers who designed and built that levee and wall, the north side as you can see (tree line) actually relieved pressure by flooding extensively, a couple businesses were over there as well but not protected and went completely under water.
Indeed! I was amazed that wall held too!
todd comer hey todd, great video, i'll never forget being in that bowl, driving out of the area you went up hill, i pulled over and was absolutely amazed the wall was holding. the river literally crested a foot or two from going over. the shape was helpful in that it was curved so there weren't any weak spots.
I don't know how there's anything left of Armourdale considering how badly it used to flood there. I think this flood is before the corp of engineers installed water pumping stations (you can seen a couple of them on the other side of the river in Argentine off strong ave) or did the upgrade to Turkey creek.
I was almost 4 at the time. Hey What was the land like before Berkeley Riverfront Park? I was always curious about that.
