Makita now have one handed smaller and lighter rectangular base orbital 40V XGT sanders, less than 1kg, 400W, with a lower centre of gravity and 3mm orbit, pretty much like the Mirka ones. The battery does not sit on the tool though, it is connected with a cable to it, but that is the only way to make a balanced and efficient orbital sander like Mirka. A big and heavy two-handed sander is to me quite an obsolete concept and totally unuseful for any of the work I do. The sander has to be light, smooth running and efficient. And about your prophesy at the end of the video - yes, 🎉 - Makita released a battery operated belt sander, 40V XGT one - and it is quite impressive and far better than anything else on the market.

If you want to use two blades insert one blade first and then insert the other one on top

I see that the boots are "water resistant" but are the zippers water proof? Im going to give these a go but im constantly dealing with rainy/wet conditions. Thanks!

Just did a hardwood 40 years old stair step job with it. If you put it on 0.0 it's still a bit deep which causes difference in depth. 0.0 is still like 0.3mm. To carve the lines of I just used it as a plunge saw. Lift a bit and smoothly lower the plane. After I sand the surface with a Dewalt ordinary sander. It would be way better with a belt sander which I don't own (yet), but it was still an awesome result. 4 hours to make 13 stair steps like brand new.

I have those two sanders. I've had the random orbit for a few years and i despise it. Recently got the finishing one due to the price (£53). Feels like a nicer piece of kit whereas the random is shaking itself to bits. I replaced the bearings but no improvement. It takes ages to remove material and it digs into uneven surfaces and leaves pigtails. Just waiting on a belt sander to arrive...

Who needs an AWS connection for dust collection when the foot is very capable. 😂

Silly question, can I install one of them Manrose Internal Wall Kit without an extractor fan for general ventilation, house has severe damp issues (old house with unbreathable walls), I was thinking of putting it in one of the hallway wardrobes which wall goes to the outside (wardrobe also mould issues), and on the inside I was thinking of just covering it with a grill over an insect mesh. Would this be against building regs or anything?

I was using wera tools durin a year in hangar for aircraft maintenance. The tool is ugly, uncomfortable to use. The sockets are to thick, small ratchets have too high rotarry direction lever which always switches opposite while toghtening or untightening. Nothing is better than Snap-on but if it is important for you to have a German tool, choose a Stahwelle.

Just got my DeWalt 356 yesterday and watched this as an intro as the manual is so crap for a new multi-tool beginner!

Tried the NewMK with 4.0 stranded cable and they pull out when under tension . 2.5mm cable should be ok

I’m moving into domestic install after years of commercial Maintence work, and these look ideal for knocking out loads of new installs Have you tried the Wiha version?

i have both (plus two.. 240v.. 1/3 sheet + small square sheet palm) and the multitool with triangle plate.. = five makita sanders .. they all have there purposes.. when refinishing furniture.. both the finishing sanders i use 360 grit 400 grit up to 1200.. and i still need or want the large half sheet sander (but they arn't cheap)

Could you do this for the 3rd gen?
