    My EVIL faction DJ bike came with these tires .. one of the few things I havnt replaced or upgraded on my bike .. love these tires ! My only complaint is that in cold weather I have to air them up a lot .. but now that’s it’s summer in the Southern California desert .. they’ve been super tight and stiff! Got almost a year on em’ :)

    Maintaining a chain is not that difficult. I've been watching the Ace videos... and I'm leaning toward a Fuji Feather or for a little more $$ .... a Wabi. I have nothing against Priority... I own a 600 all road... and a Apollo. They are both great. But when it comes to a single speed... I have my reservations. good video!

    Spongey feel on the take off, wonder if it's tensioned a bit to lose, I imagine it would still feel a bit of an energy loss

    • @OmarIllustrated
      @OmarIllustrated ปีที่แล้ว

      I had this thing looked over by a professional mechanic so I imagine it's not loose. I think you're use to a 23c single speed ripper than you will def feel a bit of energy loss. It's neglible but it does take a ways a bit of fun from charging and taking off from a dig

  • @rell108
    @rell108 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great Review!!! How difficult is it to put drop handlebars on the bike? Do you have to completely change the brakes and everything? I am a beginner to biking so I am hoping changing the Ace to drop bars wouldn’t be too complicated and expensive.

    • @OmarIllustrated
      @OmarIllustrated ปีที่แล้ว

      I imagine putting drop handle bars on this thing would be quite easy because it already uses short pull brakes. If this is the case, I would def size down.... Doing bike mechanic works is frustrating tbh if you don't know what you're doing. You can always give it a shot and take it to the bike shop if you can't figure it out.

  • @derekjolly3680

    Thanks for the comments on your Kryptonite chainlock. In fact, I have the same lock, just in the longer version. I'll add that for the ART codes, this chainlock is rated for mopeds and scooters, which I'd take to be comparable for e-bikes too. Probably that relates to the weight and the power more than anything. I see these as being extremely comparable to the ABUS Granit City XPlus although the latter could possibly have a better locking head and could possibly have better steel for the links. Possibly, but both are 10mm and hexagonal and have very good steel. Quite a large difference in price too. I do see chainlocks and chains in 8mm as having decent value and are more practical to use with regular bikes. 8mm isn't easy for cutting with bolt cutters either. From what I've seen, it takes longer and heavier boltcutters even for 8mm chainlinks. Smaller ones can and do fail especially if the links are high enough above the ground to be more of a problem for the use of the thief's boltcutters. So obviously you get all that and more with more than twice the weight of the chainlock, more robust locking heads, and two mm thicker steel links.

    I really like the look of bullhorn handlebars with bar-end break levers. But I had the opportunity to take a short test ride on a bike with that setup just yesterday, and I really wasn't sure if it'll be comfortable on a long ride. Is it comfortable?

    • @OmarIllustrated
      @OmarIllustrated ปีที่แล้ว

      For me, it is perfect for longer rides. I can easily put 20 miles without any hand fatigue... but it may not be right for you.... there is only one way to find out tbh

    I have an old-school 531fixie but what draws me to the belt drive is what I imagine is a safer situation during a chain vs. belt break while in use. Does anyone agree...disagree?

    • @OmarIllustrated
      @OmarIllustrated ปีที่แล้ว

      In my opinion, the belt drive is drastically more reliable. I've broken plenty of chains but I'm fairly confident I will never break this belt unless it gets dry and cracks years and years from now.

    Thanks for the review. Made me think / realize that these could possibly be both too wide and too high for my MTB. Last tyres that I bought were 2.1" , two different brands, same 2.1" spec, but one tyre [Michelin] was definitely like 10% bigger than the other and looks like the Maxxis are on the big side. By the way, when buying online, be really careful what you are buying - because they have both foldable and wired versions of this tyre and the weight of each type varies significantly. cheers JB

    Any U-lock can be cut with an angle grinder just takes a little time.....chains on the other hand are hard to control with an angle grinder.....and don't leave it on the ground....suspend it on the frame.....makes it more difficult to attack..
