that looks like a fun deck, I want to build cats so bad cause of Foundations!
let's GO [Creature - Cat] magnets! The *new* deck just dropped!
Pretty sure Reid Duke copied this list from gabriel nassif
I recently pulled a Twinflame Tyrant but I don't know how to build it. Would you make a list with it for standard or pioneer?
I can make that happen!
lol so after watching I realize I would have been at ten the second game after I payed my two life lol but it ended up being fine.
"but we ARE a budget deck after all" uhmm... not if you run $4 cards you're not 😂 Deck's still awesome tho, I wish my cool synergies were all pioneer legal
A deck for $75 is definitely a budget deck, switch out the visionaries for clan callers if you’d like. L take for sure 😂
@@TheDerpyDeed idk, you could certainly make it MORE budget, but imo the standard for a budget deck is less expensive than the current cheapest aggro deck (usually red aggro) so south of $120 is where budget lists start. Your $20 brew is still budget but that doesn't invalidate this being a budget deck.
@ I took a poll on if a $75 pioneer deck is considered budget, of the 20 responses I got 18/20 agreeing it is considered budget.
What do you have against rest in Peace or other graveyard have? Do you just lose?
7:48
I went mono green, dropped COCO for Green Sun's Twilight and dropped Shaman for God-Eternal Rhonas to double each creatures power and give them vigilance so they can still pay for Warmaster's ability but I love the Golgari variant too!
More tribal ❤️ any chance of a pioneer cat deck? Cats are my favourite edh deck and would love to play them in pioneer
There may or not be a cat deck coming out very soon. I cannot confirm NOR deny 😉
I have done a few cat decks in the past on the channel!
I just got into the game recently and I have been playing a deck like the first one at my LGS. It is a lot of fun! One thing I struggle with is deciding which cards to pull out of my main deck when sideboarding in game 2, do you have any thoughts on that?
I usually tend to side out the elves/communes depending on the matchup. I sometimes like to trim 1 of each of the dinosaur too. Glad you enjoy playing dinosaurs!
Play hydra with snake and gearhulk in green.
16:50 "on this creature" ?!?
Card is crazy!
@commandercrane No, I mean, is this new wording?
I believe so! They’ve changed a lot of wording on cards recently, my guess is to make it easier for newer players to
@@commandercrane For me, as a non-English native, it sounds a bit confusing. I would understand it to mean that the counter is placed on the creature that enters the battlefield
Kellan will be amazing in Boros legends and Bard Class.
It's a solid card overall and it will see play, my guess is it sees fringe play in the format.
@commandercrane From what I understood. Boros Legends is a really good deck.
So Demon of Deathgate is 4 bucks right now
That’s sweet, I could see it potentially being good in this list!
Boltwave will make burn viable again!
This is indeed correct at ~4:25 Ill-Tined Explosion does create a delayed trigger that can be responded to. Notably this comes up (not in this matchup of course) because it means that Tishana’s Tidebinder can indeed counter the board wipe half. Great video as always, very fun decks to see!
Thank you sir you're the best playing seal from existence what a find!
The card is super good, always thought it was underrated!
does this deck still competitive or absolutely not?
I played a similar list at FNM awhile ago and it did pretty well! It struggles against removal-heavy decks but does well against opposing aggro decks!
@commandercrane so maybe some protection spell could be good. Bcs de deck look so fun
Can you tell me if you want of course the cards you cut and the new cards you put in the deck?
Are you asking about the sideboard?
@@commandercrane no . But you say à similar list so...
Beginning next year, to me, magic is a different game. And I don't mean it like "oh, it has changed so much that it's nothing like I remembered", I mean magic has ended, we've reached it's conclussion, and this is something new. Magic 2, if you want to call it that. I'll play this new installment, since the gameplay will be pretty much the same, but I'll think of it as something separate from the what came before it. Btw, I understand the tactic with UB to revitalize 60 cards formats, and that part I really like, yet I still would have preferred they went another route, even if it meant less growth, though growth nonetheless.
Gruul monsters list ?
It was a local player’s deck, I’ll snag it from him next time I see him!
@commandercrane Thanks.
Nice deck! I'll definitely try it!
Thank you for doing more tribal/creature stuff always my favourite!
Yeah right... this crap is transforming the game into one big frankenstein-circus. "My land raider is attacking... but oh no... Gandalf is blocking it with Negan. Maybe next time I can bring Spiderman". But hé... as long as it makes money, all is good! 🤮
Good video, respect the opinion. Love getting everyone’s opinions over these topics. I am glad you are able to express your opinion because there is a lot of people who agree with you, and there is always controversy within the magic community. Even without UB, magic players still find something to complain about. Glad you are able to just look past it, and enjoy the game we love!
1st - I am totally against UB in Standard, as a standard player. When we look back at this in 3 years and things like "declare my Minion as a blocker to use his equipped Batarang and cast Spider-Man web to destroy your Pokeball thats equipped to your John Wick." on the norm, please end me (in game). This kills the soul of Magic for me (and I played with/against UB in Commander and don´t like it much there either, but there it isn´t so annoying) 2nd - We get a 50/50 split of UB and normal Magic sets, so the UB stuff will take a gigantic place in these formats. So you can´t ignore them anymore, making Magic the Fortnite of TCG (like Union Arena and Weiss&Schwarz) 3rd - The number of sets is just casually increasing, so you have to keep spending even more money for a rotating format, wich will kill the joy for many and push them out (already talked about it, with other people in my LGS, it is going to be rough) 4th - The people that get brought into Magic because of UB mostly stick to the set they liked because of the IP and ignore 99% of other stuff and then they either leave the scene, once done, or just stick with commander. Atleast that is what I saw. So all in all I think it is a stupid decision and making it so, that they are killing the core of the appeal for many people that Magic had... (And yes, I love LOTR and FF as much as the next guy, but please we don´t need everything in Magic. These IPs have their own products, FF has its own active TCG for gods sake....)
I stand by my statements on Discord of being disappointed this is where we have ended up with UB entering all formats and how it feels like Fortnite: the card game. HOWEVER, I do like your point of view that they are trying to reclaim 60 card competitive formats as a jumping off point for players that wouldn't have gotten into MTG without these products. I think that's a good way to look at it and the most productive way to look at this situation as it stands. Obviously we will reconvene when the time comes, but we have 2 magic themed sets to let the dust settle before we can really have a verdict on how UB in our format of choice will be affected.
I honestly don't care what WoTC does, I just want to play Magic.... But I do agree with you, I think that having the universes beyond sets going to all formats is a good thing, because I think WoTC only cares about Commander and is "forgetting" about the 60 card formats, and I HATE Commander I get that it's popular, but it's just not for me. I went to my first FNM 2 weeks ago to play Pioneer (I usually play on Tuesdays for modern at my LGS), and only 4 people showed up. Everybody else was playing Commander. Then I went to FNM last Friday, and only one other person showed up to play pioneer, and again everyone else was playing Commander. As someone new to the Pioneer format, I felt very disappointed. So with the addition to the universes beyond sets being added to all the formats, I to, am hoping it will bring in more players to the 60 card formats, like you said. Also, I think nowadays people are taking entertainment WAY TO SERIOUSLY. Whether it's card games, video games, movies, or TV shows, it's all entertainment. And entertainment is subjective, some people like it, and some people don't. We should just enjoy it for what it is, instead of taking it like it's a life and death situation. It's not! I go into every form of entertainment just to have fun, not to have my whole world changed in an instant.
The biggest issue with Universes Beyond is it just shows how little confidence they have with their own IP. Pokemon and Yugioh never had to resort to someone else's IP to stay alive.
In all fairness their IPs are generally more limited than Magic. Magic can pretty much be in any fantasy setting theoretically.
@@commandercrane Their IPs are also bigger than Magics. That is because both companies put in time and effort to build out their IP for the whole world.
I will save everyone 10:52 and say "NO."
Thanks for boosting the algorithm!
@@commandercrane not slander on your video. I like your content. It's an expression of my pure hatred for Universes Beyond coming into standard/pioneer.
Still seems a bit extreme but I get your frustration. Believe me, I’d rather have UB not be legal in format. My guess is Magic will still feel like Magic, regardless of the setting of each set.
@@commandercrane until I play Uncle Ben aggro with Blue's Clues equipments and SpongeBob removal...
Based on the previous UB sets' impact on eternal formats this will most likely not happen to this extreme. If it means people return/start playing 60-card formats though, sign me up.
I really dont like this change and let me yap about it (salty european alert): -First of all, its good that Universes Beyond (UB) exists cuz it brings new players to the game. -I personally dont like UB sets because I want to play MtG and not "Fortnite: card game" like Ralphie said. Its cool that these sets exist and you can have fun playing them for example in casual format like commander. But they really kill the Magic vibe in MtG. Next UB will be Final Fantasy and Spider Man so ill use them for my yapping points. FF is a really big video game franchise that has its own TCG and if i would like to play FF card game i would play FF TCG, or i would vibe with video games. Spider Man is marvel product and i dont really like marvel, yeah they did a few good films years ago... And? if i would like to vibe with marvel i would watch some films or play their card game. Marvel has Marvel Snap. Why we have UB sets from other card games? -You said you liked playing with UB: LotR and i can see most people vibing with this set (if we skip Bowmaster xd), BUT lotr is pure fantasy and magic so it is perfect for Magic the Gathering. This universe is base for every fantasy and it works perfect with MtG. Even if mechanics from sets like FF of Spider Man would be good, many players wouldnt like to play with the cards because of artstyle, universe and other reasons. But we will be forced to play with cards we dont like cuz the cards may be op. Me and many other guys from my TCG would die from cringe if we played Spider Man oriented deck in Pioneer one of the competitive formats (not as much competitive in 2025). -We will get more sets for standard and pioneer. For pioneer thats good cuz its got more stable metagame and it has more cards so new sets will stand for smaller % of cards there, so nothing would change. We will get a new deck or two every few months. But printing 6 standard sets every year? Standard was extented to 3 years to get rid of fast evolving meta, and now we will get a lot more sets so meta could become unstable. So what was the point of changing standard to 3 year rotation? Great we can play with our cards for longer but we need to change our decks more often. Man this idea of UB entering standard and pioneer is stupid :c
Thank you for sharing!
Yes I see no complaints with Universes Beyond being in MTG. I just want it to be Commander products only.
Fatal Push 0.25 wow Times 😮 How do you replace Kalitas? When bring him in?
Usually you want to bring him in against Aggro decks but he is also strong against decks like izzet Phoenix. Let them put their removal in the sideboard and kalitas will take over the game!
is that Arfis favorite bird I see on the thumbnail?
💀
This deck isn't bad for a $125 dollar budget.
Headless Rider is better than any lord zombies have and protects against sweeperes. Highly recommend this one. Plague Belcher can finish games on the spot if you also have Carrion Feeder. Spymaster's Vault is a great land to include on a budget.
Green is so much fun!
Why didn't they name it Collected Taxes 👀👀
poor Pioneer, debatably my favourite format and the one I get to play least.
What are the wincons of this deck? How does it win? Sorry my noobyness, I only play kitchen table magic with huge green creatures
This deck typically uses shark typhoon and the man lands to help close out games. Keep the board clear and finish the game once the opponent is out of resources!
Oh I see! I forgot about the man lands. Thank you very much!@@commandercrane
Not a problem! Btw I also love playing big green creature decks!
Isn't Archfiend of the Dross generally better than Demon of Catastrophes? I'm BUILDING!
I’d say it probably is, honestly I was going to put Archfiend in but I REALLY wanted to feature demon of catastrophes!
@@commandercrane first change I’m doing is moving Crippling Fear to sideboard (dead card against several decks) for the 4th Unholy Annex.
I like that! There’s alot of small aggro in my local meta so I tend to by slightly biased against fast aggro decks
@@commandercrane Have you given any thought to Smuggler's surprise? It mills, protects our demons, or even work as an expensive Collected Company in long games!
I never thought of that, that could be great!
I haven't really seen Rakdos Prowess on Arena since it underperformed in DC. Pioneer is so great right now and I think it is the best format to showcase on Twitch and etc.
Just because there’s no Pioneer RCQs in 2025, doesn’t mean that there won’t be Pioneer RCQs in 2026 and beyond… unless the world blows up, and if that happens we’ll have bigger problems to deal with!😂
For sure!
Hi sir could you released a budget standard deck from duskmourn which is 20-30 bucks for fnm controlish build
