I made my own Stylophone - and you can too
The StyloDuino is a custom arduino UNO based digital synthesizer inspired by the Stylophone S-1.
For this project I made a custom PCB with JLCPCB and components from Digikey. Soldered the board together, and wrote some basic code to interpret the keys and convert each key to a musical note.
If you want to make one yourself, here are the files: drive.google.com/drive/folders/19zf1v7z1uLaW-C3HcA81mwoBiagYg5sd

How full should you fill your gas tank for maximum fuel efficiency
มุมมอง 4.9Kปีที่แล้ว
In order to drive a car in the most fuel-efficient way, how much gas should you put in the tank? how much petrol should you pump, how much fuel should you fill, how much benzene should you bring... okay, I'll stop. Anyways, this is a question that I've been a little curious about for a while now, so I decided to answer it in the best way: with math! #car #auto #automobile #gas #petrol #gasoline...

A third slightly chaotic AR headset project

Hey there, I'm not dead! at least not yet anyways. Here's a subpar video of the third iteration of my AR headset, or "HUDset" if you prefer. And it's only slightly a chaotic mess of a video so I'd have to call it an unmitigated success. Hey, I just wanted to say that because 3D prints are porous, it being in a damp environment with something able to cut my face touching it all the time I’d be a bit sketched out with how much bacteria would grow inside of it that you can’t clean. If you plan on using it for a long time, I’d look into coating it with a resin or epoxy or something, so that you can actually clean it.

    OK, so if I don't need the tinted faceshield (i promised my wife to never grind like that in public), lights (I have enough lights) and Mouse-Glovin thing (use a pick up on the jaw muscles for clicks, and relative head tilt from a 9 dof gyro for pointer movement), can you show how you mounted the Vufine so that the cords do not automatically yank it out of the user's field of view?

    • @Noahmakesthings
      @Noahmakesthings 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shit, I literally just dismantled this project last week. But I will give a crack at explaining it. Essentially it's just a bunch of strain relief, the vufine is mounted (fairly) rigidly so that it does not want to move, but crucially, the cables are strain-relieved to the faceshield-visor-thing, and the whole cable loom is then sent together inside the sleeve and, again, aggressively zip-tied to the plastic frame. I also used the DB-15 (VGA) cable connectors because of the rigidity and stability they provide (here is the thingiverse link to the DB-15 mount: www.thingiverse.com/thing:5210150). Essentially though, as long as your vufine is mounted securely to your head (probably the hardest task, as it is designed to secure to a pair of flimsy glasses), and your cables are securely strain-relieved to your vufine mount, you should be ok. If I was to do this a fourth time (which I probably will in a year or two) I would most likely build a strain reliever similar to the one found on the EVA carriage system (main.eva-3d.page/hex_nuts/core/corexy/) I have uploaded my vufine mount to thingiverse, it's far from a design that I'm proud of, but you might want to consider adapting or copying Vufine_holder__2.STL (www.thingiverse.com/thing:5210181) to suit your needs, as the stock magnetic vufine mount is hot garbage, it is the flimsiest thing known to man, and yes, without proper cable strain-relief, it will 100% jerk out of your field of view if you're doing anything other than a C3PO impression. Anyways, this was a ramble, I hope it helps, I can dig through my footage once I'm off work if you need a quick picture of the mount assembly and cable management. Other than that, happy making, I will be interested to see how this project turns out!

    Bro what kind of lenses we need to use in augmented reality headset? Same lenses that are used in virtual reality headset?

    • @Noahmakesthings
      @Noahmakesthings 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The same ones will work, as long as you are magnifying the screens, it should create a virtual image the desired distance from your face. There is some math to do for your virtual image distance to lens magnification ratio, but it's not too complex. If you're buying lenses from scratch and looking for a thin profile, I used fresnel lenses (which aren't super common in VR as I believe they can introduce artifacts)

    • @shadowoffire4307
      @shadowoffire4307 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Noahmakesthings thank you bro. Greatly appreciated. Isn't vr headset standalone or cardboard both use frensel lenses? You should also make a "how to make" video on open source google cardboard like augmented reality headset for smartphones which will work for androids google arcore. Like those cardboard so cal holokit and aryzon.

    • @Noahmakesthings
      @Noahmakesthings 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @shadow of fire I think it depends on the model of VR headset, I've definitely seen some without fresnels, but that could just be lower end versions. I made a Googlr cardboard a couple years back using non-fresnels and it worked perfectly fine, they should be interchangeable, but fresnel lenses are just flatter. That would come with extra manufacturing cost in glass, however I used a couple of those plastic card magnifiers which were a couple cents each.
