Las soldaderas: The Mexican soldier women.
Las soldaderas, or Las Adelitas, as they're most commonly known, played a crucial role in the Mexican Revolution of the 1910's. We dedicate this presentation to every woman around the world and throughout time that stood beside the men and share in the toil of battle.

Lots of folks don't know , but Quanah was also a shaman and regularly consumed fifty peyote buttons a day !!!!! Bill Neeley wrote a book Quanah Parker and His People and lived here in the town of Quanah where he taught high school English. Bill loves the Comanche as if they were his own. Check it out !

I thought this might be one of those annoying AI narrated videos. The speakers in them mispronounce tricky words that a human ought to say correctly. This voice said "abroad a steamboat' but it's 3 years old.

My family back in Mexico has an old picture of my grand grand grandmother as a soldadera along with her brother. IDK if it's her or if it is real, but it's a momento my family keeps sacred.

As a Mexican man who grew up away from all of that thanks to the ones that fought and gave their lives up i couldn’t be any more appreciative. I had no idea women had fought too and I think I know why I admire Mexican women the most, that fire to fight. I would kill for a woman that would go to a battlefield with me and care for me when I’m down,to carry the fight when I can’t get up anymore. I don’t even think I deserve that

The "music" is annoying and unnecessary--a distraction. Get rid of it. The content is what is important. Very interesting and I like all the photos. So many bios don't have many photos.

More Carson trivia...Kits kids were pretty messed up. One became a prostitute, one beat his father in-law in the head with a hammer and shot him (they remained friends) one committed suicide, another died in an asylum, and another shot and killed his mother in-law and shot his father in-law.

Am a descendant of a brother of Kit and have a little trivia for you. Actor William Smith (Conan the Barbarians father and Red Dawn etc.) was a descendant of the Carson and Boone families through Kits half brother William Carson and his wife Cassandra Boone (daughter of Daniel Boone's nephew).

Here to learn more. My uncle told me our Turley cousins, Kit Carson hid in one of their freight wagons and they smuggled Kit Carson out (from what threat or to where I don’t know) 😂 they owned a freight hauling business on the Santa Fe trail and lived near his family
