His intention was to do something so that the 'dharma' of the Girmitiyas could be protected and people's faith remained intact. Simultaneously, he wanted people to have confidence that just as Lord Rama, after 14 years of exile returned...

Wow , I am just so deeply moved by a documentary or series about history, particularly the impact of British colonialism and the suffering endured by our ancestors. It's incredibly powerful to learn about our past, especially when it comes from stories passed down through generations, and seeing them brought to life in such an informative and emotional way can be overwhelming. Understanding and acknowledging the pain and resilience of those who came before us is a profound experience. It's natural to feel a range of emotions, from sorrow to anger, as you connect with their struggles. These stories are important, not only to remember the hardships but also to honor the strength and endurance of your ancestors. If you ever feel like sharing more about what specifically touched you, or if you want to discuss any particular episode or moment, I'm here to listen. Salute to our amazing ancestors and so grateful for sharing this, your time and great efforts 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Just wondering if we can still find the book honorable Late Mr Totaram ji wrote.❤❤

Thank you for your heartfelt comment and for taking the time and interest to watch all 14 episodes. The pain and anger you felt were very much present throughout the making of these episodes-by the time I reached episode 7, I was already overwhelmed and deeply affected emotionally. I truly appreciate your willingness to listen and engage in further discussion. Regarding Pandit Totaram ji’s book, yes, it is available. You can find an English translation by JD Kelly and Uttara Singh on Internet Archives, while the original Hindi version is available on Hindisamay.com. I highly recommend reading the original to fully grasp the depth and context of the time in which it was written.

Kirtiji, girmityas' souls must be so grateful to you for relating their story to us, the children and grandchildren of the girmityas. Your peaceful, talented story telling skills have put me right in the heart of the life of the girmityas. If Fiji has produced such a beautiful, peaceful, talented soul such as yourself, than their sufferings have paid off. You have been able to tell this heart wrenching, very painful truth in its purest form and I so very much appreciated watching each and every episode. My life was totally dismantled as I was separated from my family due to migration to California, USA. The cause being, our displacement from India by the British and the aftermath circumstances which cautioned our elders to send their children overseas for a better future. The British Queen died without extending an apology to the Indians in Fiji, which is so shameful and regrettable. The British Government leaves a black mark in the history of the world as related to what they did to the Indians in Fiji. A well thought out, organized, well documented slavery system which the larger world hasn't heard much about.
