anthem is not the same without a male alto

Very fortunate to be there in person - such an amazing night; the programming/repertoire was brilliant. Congratulations to everyone!
Spewin' that I couldn't come in this Sunday, the Dove is one of my favourites. (Certainly composed for a larger space, but plenty of other musical highlights are to be found in the smaller acoustic. It's especially lovely to hear the top line sung by adult sopranos, their discipline enhances the experience.) I'm so very grateful for the livestream! but gosh it would have been a lot of fun in person 😊
Congratulations to Warren Trevelyan-Jones for a monumental innings at SJKS.
Why red vestments ?
Kingdom season - from All Saints to Christ the King.
@ I believe the colour is optional
what is the name of this piece? I really like it!
thank you for such glorious music
The sound from the lecture was not very satisfactory - difficult to hear, and Father John at the end.
The anthem at 28:00 is beautiful.
thank you for Matins online
Thank you for the sermon, and the music. Church music is transcendental!
The repertoire chosen for service this evening was exceptional. I was going to mention a favourite, but they all worked so well together that you can't highlight only one. What is worth highlighting is the men of the choir. I'm glad they got an evening to shine. I know that many musical moments can be overshadowed by the upper voices, so I'm glad the boys got a chance to pull focus a bit!
Yes! At last one church broadcasting weekly mattins. I’m disappointed at York, St Paul’s, and Westminster not broadcasting but you guys are here. Our town just lost the last parish doing it
Beautiful
What a pity the voluntary at the end was muted...
Beautiful service.
Such amazing music! A real pity it is not in stereo on TH-cam.
9 out 10 i with the high altar was used for this Mass
WONDERFUL ORGAN AND CHOIRS.
A wonderful celebration for St James' Day.
A mitre in Sydney Diocese i am Shocked😂😂
Marvellous music. I am so grateful that there are still some churches and clergy that appreciate the organ. Where I play in Toronto they want to get rid of the organ.
What a shame the Dupré cut out at the end. Joyous in so many ways!
This is so exciting for the parish of St James. Congratulations.
Congratulation to the parish. Glorious to hear the Langlais Messe Solennelle sung at this dedication mass. Especially by these stunning combined choirs, and lovely to see Bishop Hurford there. I noted with pleasure the epiklesis....
Please can you check the volume on the lecterns for reading lessons and intercessions. The volume was too low today at choral Eucharist 14 July. Greg Hawken usually has a strong voice- at times it was hard to hear. I assume the clergy have some roving mikes on their vestments as they could be heard fine at intercessions lectern. Caroline
Beautiful music. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing. Very inspirational. Beautiful music

So wonderful! God bless the leaders of St. James for having a world class vision.
Thank you for keeping safe these moments of beauty and worship in our city. ❤
Your recent viDAeos are good. With some strategic eDiting, they have the potential to aTtract a wider audiencE and generte more engagement.

Magnífico, espetacular! Brasil
I can hardly put my excitement into words
Here in Philadelphia in the USA, we are proud to have Dobson op 76, which is the largest mechanical action concert hall organ in the world. The instrument is located in the Kimmel Center, home of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Philadelphians are now treated to the non-liturgical repertoire of the organ.
It would have been nice if a link had been provided to the specification (stop list) of this organ.
Google “Dobson Op. 99.” I tried to post the link but TH-cam won’t let me.
I happened to live in Oxford during the installation of the Dobson organ at Merton College where I often attended Evensong. I can assure all who might chance on this comment that the sound of that organ entirely took over my listening and has become the organ of choice for me to hear and occasionally revisit. The sound is so distinctive as to be, can one say this?, unique. Wonderful clarity, breadth and depth ... one can go on but I shall not. Sydney, leave alone St James's, is in for a treat.
All that was required was an organ to accompany the Choir & Congregation.A 3 Million treat on top of a 30 year old re-build for $100,000 ..........and will the "man-in-the-street" ( at Mass) appreciate its dulcet tones ? I suspect this beautiful organ was the desired "child" of Organists and Female Choir members. Considering the size of the room the unused choir organ at St. Marys could have provided more accompanying sweetness ...if it was for sale.. But it does not have the modern "gadgets" that beguile the organist. .............But it is "fait accompli".Lets ask the average man at Mass, can you hear $3 Million worth ? !Chris.
This is what every church needs. Thank you for making this great investment for sacred clasdical music, which will pay off for many generations to come.
Spot on. Getting tired of guitars and tambourines.
Truly a fantastic builder you have chosen!
Cant wait to hear it
No wreath laying act of remembrance national anthem for Remembrance Sunday?
At least the service is recognisably Anglican unlike in England where sadly the Roman Missal is used now.
This is a beautiful service. It was especially good to hear the Harris setting.
