The words 'Give Me Jesus' were a great comfort when my son Tom passed in 2019 and that prompted me to add an extra verse of my own. However, the words could apply to anything that causes problems, divorce, financial issues, job loss, etc. So whether you have a Christian faith or not, I hope the words to the song offer some form of comfort to those who need it.

Godalming College has changed beyond recognition since I was a pupil there between 1938 to 1943. As it was during the war, there was a shortage of male teachers, so there was no specialist teacher for P.E or games. Harry Withers, geography, coached the rugby XV, P.A. 'Pa Jones, maths, the soccer XI, and Jimmy Laidlaw, french, 'coached' the athletics team. I wasn't keen on cricket, I lost my front teeth playing wicket-keeper in an evening match for the 'Old Boys'. My school days were an enjoyable part of my life, I made many good friends, sadly few still living.
