why? the truck chassis is better than the car
@johnbecker5213 if I used it like a truck than youde be right. I play with it in the mountains and I cruise town with it. Occasionally a few burnouts and sliding it around but the truck chassis would not have been good for that. The crown vic chassis is fully boxed from factory. It's stiff and rigid. The rear suspention has a 4 link that keeps the axle from torquing and a watts link that keeps it centered. The leaf springs would have caused both of thoes issues. Also the front factory suspention has I beams. Makes it difficult to lower the truck. There's also no camber or caster adjustment on beams but the crown vic has proper control arms and rack and pinion steering. Makes the ride less harsh and at the same time allows me to carve through the mountains with ease. It was ment to be fun. Not a workhorse.
It was in some sort of accident and the insurance sold it to pick and pull.
This is one of my dream builds, anywhere we can see more of it? I have a half a grand marquis in my yard begging for an obs body
@marksokolski5125 Instagram my man. I go by the same name as well. If you want I could maby make a video of the build pictures and explain everything I did in more detail
" One mans trash is another mans treasure. One mans pain is another mans pleasure . One mans loss is another mans gain, one mans crutch is another mans cain.
Someone probably died and a family member didn't know what it was
You take it dumb dumb
@captainobvious2062 they won't let you buy whole cars. Also I don't need parts from it. Working on a coyote swap for my vic right now
Not his responsibility to install studs. You should be thankful and lucky he did.😂
Bc the electric guy is a framer and has a thought process of hey the framer will fix it or they will just fix it by supporting it with the dry wall
Most electricians will just leave it floating. This is not bad idea, after drywall is installed and cut around the boxes, they can throw a few screws on that. That box will tighten right up.
They are expecting the drywallers to deal with it.
Not how I would personally do it but electricians aren't framers and framers aren't electricians. I do full remodels and because I handle it all, I would have framed it in a way that the electrical box fit and was fully supported.
this is what you get when the inspector hasn't worked in construction. that block will be sandwiched between the drywall and be as sturdy as it needs to be.
@garygriffith8446 I'm not an inspector I'm just trying to understand why this was done like this
Its so that when they go to sheet the building, the free hanging piece can bump up against the drywall behind it and prevent the box getting buried. Sometimes a theres a stud or a little bit of blocking can make it look better but if a studs too far and 6 inches of blocking isnt necessary, itll do in a pinch
Give away who’s building them please
Thanks sincerly for the information you are an honest man
Hello OSHA😱
About a year ago, I bought a like new, and I do mean like new, inside, outside, under the hood and underneath, always garaged, doesn't look like it was ever driven in the rain, original owner (older couple living in a retirement community near Phoenix, AZ) 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis LS with 34,000 miles on it. Every option except sunroof. These people bought it new, kept up on the maintenance, just hardly ever drove it. I doubt anybody had ever been in the back seat. New tires, new brakes, very recent complete service. I paid $10,000 cash. No tax, no fees. I have it in my garage. I'm afraid to drive it. There is not a scratch on it. Paint is mint. Silver color, not white, so the paint won't peel. So is the interior. No oil leaks.
@geraldscott4302 I may have a gem but it sounds like you have the holy grail my friend
U got insurance on all those u must be a broke man
@HazeWhite1981 lol you got me. Only 2 of them got insurance but there all roadworthy. And I only pay like 68 bucks a month for the 2 that are insured so adding 2 or even 3 more wouldn't be impossible
Not so sure it's a p71 U will have to check the vin. Never seen a p 71 with key pad on door and no certified spedo
@jbb8382 I never Said that it was a police car. It's a plain crown vic. Your thinking of my username. My race car is a p71. The car in this video was some old man's town and church car.
insurance through the roof lol
@xxck006 if they were all insured maby. Only 2 actually are. Even then thoes only cost 68 bucks a month together
I did a 1981 ford f150 about 5 years ago. Fun kittle toy
Very good work, my man! I'm in Raleigh, I have been considering various pickup chassis swaps. The Crown Vic is often used for trucks and cars both, but it is pretty damn wide and often looks weird, which is why I clicked because yours doesn't. It has a good stance, and while the wheels crowd the wheelwells a tad, it's perfect! Was it hard to find the right offset on the wheels? Most of the swaps I've seen (on older bodies) keep the stock Crown Vic wheels, and that's not a great look... I gave you a like and subscribed, good luck with your channel and give us more!
@chrissimes9445 believe it or not I got lucky. I got the wheels off marketplace for 400 bucks. There 18x10 all the way around if you went with a narrower wheel it would solve the crouding issue. I like the wide stance because of the aggressive look and also I do a ton of mountain driving so the wide and low chassis sticks alot better than a truck chassis probably could. Thanks for the follow
First 👍 ... 🩵
What are some things I have to look forward to doing this swap I've been waiting to find someone who has done this
@SamuelReed-j5i make sure you have something that can lift and lower the cab. I had to do it by me and a few buddy's picking it up and moving it multiple times to get everything where it needs to be
I have a contractor working with me right now. They call us all “picky”. Umm, no. Not picky. We just expect you to do your job with a standard that represents quality. Not rush through it and who cares what happens in the process.
That's a real nice truck man keep up the good work it's going to look real nice when it's done
Wht year vic and was it a p.i ?
@oe3129 it was an 03 and no it wasn't a pi. I got the doner car for like 200 bucks so I couldn't complain. The lx and pi are the same as far as this swap goes and all parts are interchangeable
@thatcarolinainterceptor1273 thanks for the reply! I'm thinking of using the early 90 vic for a fram swap
@oe3129 you can do that but be warned the 02 and older chassis doesn't have rack and pinion steering and only the 98 and newer chassis has the 4link with watts link. The 97 and older cars use a triangulated 4 link setup. Just something to know beforehand. Best place to get aftermarket suspension for the panther chassis cars Is adtr.net by far
@@thatcarolinainterceptor1273 tht great to knw! Maybe I'll look for the newer chassis then
Smart man
So…you’re scared of the dark?!?😂
@zacharypfister2832 in the Appalachian mountains most definitely yes. Otherwise no. Would rather be in the dark woods of Mccormick than near the woodline in mountain rest.
@@thatcarolinainterceptor1273exactly, ive seen things in those woods science cant explain
Scary
Very cool. Awesome
damn thats impressive
"Speed" in a crown vic is a stretch 😂
@JaniceWeber-y5e throw enough money at something and you can make it fast. Except for the dmv for some reason lol
Shameful
Hold my beer and wait never mind
Beautiful
did this 15 years ago but used a 490 big block😅
@2stroketime348 on a crown vic chassis or just the front end? Also I'm currently building a 63 f100 that were swapping onto a 85 f250 4x4 chassis and that has a 460 sitting in it. Check it out in my most current video
@thatcarolinainterceptor1273 whole chasis swap I even put in the sunroof! was able to use the ford dash it was alot of work took me just over a year the truck is still around to
@2stroketime348 this bodystyle truck or the 91 and older trucks. There's a 72 f100 similar to what your talking about that was at the f100 supernationals this year with a similar setup that used a sunroof out of a town car
Sounds like you are from around my way? I grew up in Gaston County. Cool Ford Truck. I Love my Fords. I have a 06 GT witg 345k miles and a 05 F 350 with 275k miles. Keep up the good work dude. I miss doing things like this. My body has put a stop to my projects. Heart is still there though.
@joey193650 I'm from upstate sc. Oconee to be specific
Sometimes the algorithm provides! I have a '96 that needs a front bumper. I never knew the later years would fit, and I think yours looks pretty damn good! I wonder if that chassis would work without cutting the bed, almost like a Desert Runner like we did in the '90's with 3/4 ton springs and blocks! Awesome job my friend! Subscribed with a thumbs up!
@brianhudak5103 there is a company that builds the brackets to bolt this bumper to these trucks. This truck is on a crown vic chassis so I had to make my own mounts. So if yours is still on the factory frame there's someone who makes the mounts to make it less of a headache
@@thatcarolinainterceptor1273 Thanks!
I was planning on doing a build just like this . any body fitment tips
@hackitgarage6503 have access to a post lift. It will save your back lol. Also if your able to remove the cab and front clip as one peice it will help you get things lined up. You will need to cut your factory radiator support but you can use the original mounting holes with the mounts you'll need to build for the frame.
Ew
What is it registered as? A crown Vic or a OBS?
@joeycanfield489 thankfully I don't live in California so I don't have to register it based off the chassis or something stupid like that. It's registered as a 95 f150. Living in south carolina if I registered it as a crown vic and they ran the plate ide get lit up immediately.
Really like your work, how long did it take to get the body lined up to the frame?
@tatemrichey8698 with the limited resources I had ( me, 2 buddies, a welder and a measuring tape ) ide say a weekend. From front wheel center to rear wheel center there's very little difference and that can be adjusted by moving the bed forwards or backwards. I did have to cut some off the front and back of the vics frame but no cutting was needed between the wheels. Not very difficult if you have a car lift. We could have probably had it mounted in a day but we had to lift the cab by hand. And it being winter I had to constantly heat the metal before welding anything
Good work.. but why do this?
@bilboswagg3nz827 in high school I wanted a muscle truck. Could never afford a lightning. One kid had a 454 ss and there was a f150 similar to mine that wasn't a lightning but had been built up pretty good. So my goal was to build something that nobody else could just buy. So I came up with this. The truck handles like it's on rails. I can run down miatas and other cars that were ment to take corners. It rides well and thanks to it nolonger having beams I can raise or lower it without fighting camber issues. No axle wrap in the rear since there's no leaf springs, zero body roll. It's just a ton of fun.
Did you have to shorten the frame?
@melohsparks313 yes and no. So I had to cut some off of the front of the frame and the back of the frame but nothing in between the wheels. If you look on my insta I belive it shows how mutch had to be cut to fit it. I reused the crown vic bash bar mounting plate and rewelded it back to the rails so I had something to mount the bumper to
@@thatcarolinainterceptor1273 clean, the stance is awesome.
@melohsparks313 thank you
Thank you for posting I am having problem's with my 94 , wife's phone.
