I tried to get this up earlier but I was having technical difficulties lol. I also tried to add music but I couldn't get that to work so it's kind of boring. This video is also a lot easier to watch if you speed it up. Also peep the hair tie on my thumb that I keep playing with. okkk that's it have a good day

Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Interviews

BLFAC session 2 2018 Blue Lake is a week and a half long summer camp in Michigan. You can major in music, dance, visual arts, and theater. I play violin and i have grown so much as a musician at this camp. The people at Blue Lake (campers, counselors, faculty, etc) are all so unique and talented. Most times when some people think of Blue Lake, they think of long rehearsals and practice. While t...
Warning theres always RAIN and also RUN before anyone gets up to go the bath house and get in there quick theres not enough stalls 3*some of the water in unit is amazing westpoint has good water spout water so bring a waterbottle thats reusable 4*the matresses are the thinest you will ever see but they are somhow confortable dont panic if they look thin they arent that bad
Also if you have even slighly sensitive ears BRING EARPLUGS i learned that the hard way
I’m going in 8 days and this helped a lot
I’m going the same time you are!(first timer) What unit are you in??😊😊
@@cecimacvieI’m gonna be in band and I’m also scared because I’m not really good at my instrument hope to see you there!!
@@cecimacvieare you in central or Bernstein?
@@EmmaWang-v5r omg srry my phone died I was in central!! I had sooo much funnn!! You?
some tips from a veteran returning in a few weeks!! - please please please do not eat in your bed. this is a big one for me- a girl last year ended up suffocating a mouse in her bedsheets after eating cool ranch doritos - try to eat as much as you can at mealtimes! if food they have looks suspicious/unappealing to you, you can always say no - a lot of the water in the plumbing is full of sulfur. this means the water in places like marek hall smells like rotten eggs. if you can bring a flat of water and choose different drinks at mealtime (although all are made with artificially made powder + sulfur water, drinks that taste stronger such as red drink, lemonade and orange juice can help mask the scent and taste) - you will be walking everywhere- bring substantial shoes - dress code says you need plain white socks, but this is me telling you nobody is going to tell you to go change over the logo on your socks - if you get the navy knee socks from the camp store, tie your shoes super tight when you wear them to events as they are so slick they will slip off if you're not careful - have your parent or guradian send you with about $100-$115. i recommend buying a stuffy from the store (because sometimes you need a little buddy complete with blue lake tshirt) and any of the navy blue hoodies (these ones count as an "informal sweater"- you can wear them outside your unit but not to formal events) - finally, have fun! so much else i would like to include but its a lot to process. experiencing it all is much better, trust me! good luck to my fellow and future campers!
The only thing that annoys me is the phone thing a little bit because I am going there to draw and they expect the artists to just sit there in silence 😭 I work so much faster and better with music. Also I saw photos of the chairs they have artists use to sit on while they draw and I’m going to get scoliosis after this week😃
Blue lake suck
I’m thinking of going this summer (I’m going into 7th) but it’s really expensive and if I bring my phone how will they find it? What will they do? How will they know?
just don’t bring it. it’s so much more enjoyable without your phone. you forget about your phone after like 20 minutes of being there :)
yo idk if you will see this comment, but you mentioned you forgot to bring the charger for your camera, are there power outlets in the cabins? I am going to buy a MP3 to bring with me, but i couldnt find any that uses replaceable batteries, so i would need some way to plug it in. Blue Lake seems super fun, im excited to go this year!
I went to Blue Lake in the 80s and in the 2000s my student went. In the 2010s that student was a staff leader and eventually a composer and instructor...now a conductor. I am now raising a new generation about to go THIS summer Blue Lake is amazing. You told ZERO lies
I‘m going this year for the first time. Already got some issues with registration but we‘ll handle that. This vid helped a lot thanks! I‘m from Germany so I had no idea what it‘s like. Now I got some sort of idea what it will be like haha
youre gonna love it. this year is my third time, both times were awesome. but PLEASE read the packing list on the Camper Family Answer Book
I’m going for the first time this year too!!! A representative came to our school and we auditioned and the camp gave out scholarships. I got one for musical theatre major and am so excited! That’s so cool that you’re coming from Germany!
what session are you going to??
i think i’m going this summer FOR THE FIRST TIME. i’ll be majoring in band in percussion and minoring in radio broadcasting
omggg what session?
omg would u recomend? i wanna go
Soviet Spoonion was still in place session 1 2023 😭
going to blue lake session 4 in 3 days, got a cheap camera i’m so excited 💗
Just got out of blue lake yesterday for my final year. Session 1 2023. So much fun, although I was in Script cause I'm a dude. But it feels weird that I'm not going to be a camper anymore
im going as a bari sax player my minors the jazz band and idk what im getting into
I'm going to blue lake on june 21st (1st session) I'm so excited eeee
Is it a good idea to go to 2 sessions?
I lived at blue lake for 11 years my dad worked there for 35 years and we had a house on camp
11:33 instructions unclear: i now have half a kazoo
I have a question because i will be going next year. If I am a girl and I go with a friend that is a boy then will we have time to ever hang out together because the cabins are separated by gender?
It depends on majors and if tou get the same classes
I just got out of blue lake yesterday! Session 4, 2022. I was also in promenade! I loved BLFAC sm, it was such a great experience.
I just got back from Blue Lakes Fine Arts camp and it was amazing also my cabin was buxahuda my counselor was Annie and she was the best
I just got back from blue Lake fine arts camp
Im going to my first time at blue lake this year. This was really helpful. Thank you!!
Same!
same
Same I’m shitting myself 💀
@@adalieswietonsakurafox Ahh don’t be worried lol, my second year (last year) was hard for me because i think i just didn’t give myself a second to take a break. A word of advice lol, don’t be worried! I was so worried about doing things wrong that i didn’t enjoy my time there. Have fun, seriously 🩷
@@mangostickyrice17 Thank you for the advice (*^▽^*)♥ I have just been worried about meeting other people. I live in a very small town. I don’t ever get to meet a lot of different people so I am excited about that but I’m still scared of rejection. I’m also worried about living and sleeping with people I don’t know. When I’m around people for a long time it tires me out like it’s hard for me to be social for so long it’s weird. I’ve never really been to a camp so I hope I can get used to being around so many people. I am going to the camp on the 10th it’s on a Wednesday so it’s a odd day to start. I’m not too sure where I’m going or what I’m going when I show up 💀 Also I’m going there for drawing and sense they don’t support electronics I’m hoping they don’t make us draw for hours in silence I hope they play some music 😂
Last time I went was 1996 and you hit it on the head. But always my favorite place.😊
Wait can you bring a bike?
No only if you work at the camp :)
After 2 years of waiting, I'm finally going back to Blue Lake for my 4th and final summer there. It feels weird to me that I'm going to be a senior this upcoming year. And it sucks that it'll be my last summer as a camper there, as I love the camp.
If you go with a friend, will you probably get put in the same cabin? We are both going to band camp.
OMG HOW DID U RECORED THIS!?!
The Soviet Spoonion still reigned in 2021.
I had it 2023, going again this year, I’ll start it
Woooo going in two days
I just got out of blue lake yesterday!! I went to session 2 of 2021! I can't believe the Soviet spoonion has been around for that long lol, I went for my second year this year, but my first year was in 2018. I miss it so much and I hope to go again next year!
And the spoonion was upheld into 2022 as well as the United forks of America, which everybody knows should be the un-knife-ed states of america
I loved how this turned into if you like fortnite or not🤣
blue lake was clearly made for extroverts 😭😭 I'm going for 26 days bc I'm going for two sessions starting tomorrow and I'm literally dreading it bc I hate meeting people and being outdoors. like this would sound like so much fun if I wasn't the most anxious introvert alive 🏃🏃
I'm going to session 3
@@estrellamendoza2763 omg good luck bestie, there was an infestation of caterpillars but by the time u get there they're gonna be moths. also idk if it's your first time but taking a shower during rec hour, getting to meds early, and getting as much sleep as possible is the best advice I can give you.
@@nephele1140 thank you I'm kinda nervous to go hhahahha
@@nephele1140 what session are you going or went
@@nephele1140 it's my first time. Do you know when they let us know what cabin and stuff we get
i’m in dolce 😭
i’m going to session one next week you have no idea how helpful this is haha
Ladies behave have class and always value ur self’s
As I’m looking back I was at camp with u!😂 I have a pic of my counselor and u were in the background on main camp
I miss blue lake sm🥺‼️
This year is my first year to actually go, but for previous years when my sister went I would leave without dole whip
Aye its corbin! He was in my unit that year and also was in my cabin back in like 2017
Nobody: Me: OKAY SUMMER CAMP IS IN LIKE 3 MONTHS. TIME TO REWATCH EVERYTHING EVEN THOUGH I REMEMBER. I feel good living like 2 hours from blue lake so everyone who has to fly from places don't understand the privilege just taking an hour and and a half drive home after in absolutely trashed from 2 weeks of camp.
As a dancer who was supposed to go to washing Leo’s might be a problem it’s technically uniform idk 🤷🏻♀️
Thanks for the guide! I got a scholarship. So disappointed that it was canceled this year.
Such a shame we couldn't go this year cause of covid, but cant wait for next year.
This summer was gonna be my first year, I’m sad it got canceled
@@piperdiesing9708 that's tough, its really fun
This place is the best!
god please tell me you didn’t thirst over my Belgian host brother!! (He was the one who came out and laid on the stage at the beginning of the shirtless part of the flag spinning thing lmao)
me watching this and making myself sad because blue lake is cancelled this year:
i was in the back 40 in 2018 and thank god i rehearsed in toscanini so it wasn’t a super long walk
I just started getting sad that Blue Lake was supposed to be in about 20 days and it got cancelled. I'm sad
