Mountain biking and adventuring around the desert southwest. From race coverage and recaps to trail videos and reviews, product reviews and a generally high level of stoke!
Hawes Trail Network: Episode 4 | Upper Ridge
One of the best trails in Hawes to catch a flow and work out your cornering. Fairly consistent but there are a few sandy corners and cacti on the inside lines to keep you on your toes. After the hill toward the bottom bomb down, rip the berm, and get a few cranks in for the small hit at the bottom.
This is a great little run to toss into your loop and makes for a nice steady climb at a very affordable grade.

Hawes Trail Network: Episode 3 | Secret
มุมมอง 4723 ปีที่แล้ว
The not so secret, Secret trail, is a really fun addition to a run down Hawes. Best connected from Hawes/Magic Mountain/Upper Secret, IMO. Secret takes you on a quick loop up and around a shallow canyon. After a few small climbs, across a wash, and up a small technical move you reach the start of the fun stuff (where this video begins). From here you're treated to a half mile and 150ft descent ...
Hawes Trail Network: Episode 2 | Cactus Garden
มุมมอง 7963 ปีที่แล้ว
Despite the un-rideable worn down, rutted switchbacks up top. Forgetting about the loose turns eroding away and the inability to get a good flow on the upper section, Cactus Garden is a fairly fun and occasionally exciting trail best ridden down from Gidro Pass. The lower section, south of its intersection with Lower Gidro @3:05, is where this trail really earns its name and gets a few more sta...

Hawes Trail Network: Episode 1 | NEW TRAIL DAY: High Ridge
มุมมอง 1.2K4 ปีที่แล้ว
The recently cut High Ridge Trail on the East side of Hawes was made public last week with the request to Hawesaholics to get out and ride it in. A few hundred people headed out in the first few days to get their hero dirt and help pack in this fun section of flowy, switchback ridge trail. The trail is typically accessed via a "short" climb up L'Alpe d'Huez (although can be accessed from a numb...

Riding Singletrack and Chunk in Tucson - Tucson Mountain Park
มุมมอง 1.2K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Established in 1929, Tucson Mountain Park is approximately 20,000 acres, and one of the largest natural resource areas owned and managed by a local government in the U.S. With over 62 miles of non-motorized shared-use trails, the park is open to hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikers, so be prepared to pull aside for a 2 and four egged friends (always follow good trail use etiquette on these ...

2020 Specialized Cactus Cup | Enduro Course | Pre-Ride
มุมมอง 1.2K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This was the pre-ride I did for the Specialized Cactus Cup in October 2020. The Cactus Cup is a three-day stage race in Phoenix, Arizona that started in 1991. It features a Time Trial on Friday, a 40 mile XC on Saturday, and an "XC-style" Enduro on Sunday. It's seen pros in it's history such as Ned Overend, John Tomac, and Tinker Juarez. Typically held in March, it was pushed to October this ye...

Hiking The McDowell Mountains In The Rain | Bell Pass
มุมมอง 314 ปีที่แล้ว
Headed out for a hike up to Bell Pass and beyond on a rainy day in Scottsdale a couple weeks ago. Rain in the desert is very serene and really opens up the colors of the land. The sounds of the rain and the movement of the clouds really add to the experience as well.
Spanish Hieroglyphs On Black Top Mesa | Hiking The Superstition Mountains
มุมมอง 9964 ปีที่แล้ว
I saw a marking on my map that said Spanish Hieroglyphs on Black Top Mesa in the Superstitions. On a whim, without prior research, I decided to head up to this point and see what kind of hieroglyphs they were. It turned into an amazing day in the Supes and I eventually found the hieroglyphs. They were in the form of a Sun as well as, what I later found out, is a map used by the Spanish in the 1...

Great video! Was segment 3 the “tech loop” coming from the top of the mountain heading East?
Dump the music.
Good video but I would like to hear the bike working instead of listening to music.
see any crested saguaros on this ride?
I like cycling
Nice ride 🤙 I’ll have to check out this trail. Thanks for the video
great video..I really like that you showed the route on a map!!
Thank you! We are planning to do this week. Looks like you posted last January, was that when you hiked? We're from Oregon, exploring here and want to do this as a backpack up to weaver's needle, have to make sure there will be water in springs now.
Glad you enjoyed watching! It has been a very very dry winter down here so presently little to no water. BUT, we are expected to get quite a bit of rain this week which should fill these canyons and leave quite a bit of water for the next few weeks!
Nice video mate! Trail looks really fun. :D
You took the highest of the routes across the Supai. The lower routes are quicker, but the higher routes offer a chance to find old pottery and artifacts.
Nice man. Thats my 2nd favorite dayhike in the Canyon. Went out there yesterday in fact.
Quick thru the trees! Nice vid 🤘Subbed mate, keep it up! 👍
remove the "top" and you get that one mesa
So beautiful! Thanks for sharing
Gorgeous place!
Nice, thanks for posting. How was coming back down that one chimney?...the hardest looking one. Thanks, Gary
Although a bit awkward to descend a chimney in general, this is not terrible. Plenty of spots for your feet and it's only about 10 feet. It probably looks more difficult than it is.
Aren't those Petroglyphs?
According to my topo they are Hieroglyphs. Being that the main image is a map, they would be representing an esoteric idea, making them hieroglyphics. This is all based on limited info on these images so there is a good chance the mapmaker and myself could be mistaken. I'd love any other information on these in particular!
Nice one buddy great wee upload looks great how about we support each others channels looks like we have the same interests
Thanks, man. I enjoyed your survival vid!
Man that place is gorgeous! I'd love to hike there and get some footage for my channel. Thanks for sharing
Sedona is a really amazing and beautiful place! Nothing like it.
Cool video, man!
Thanks for posting. What time of year?
End of September. Water was a little chilly but not bad.
This is very cool! well done!
Thanks!! It was such a great trip.
This is very cool! Glad y'all sent it!
What's the story with your map? Whose lines? Who's map?
We used a variety of resources here; an excerpt from 'Grand Canyon Summits Select' by the Tomasi Brothers, beta from Mountain Project, and my secret weapon - a partner who has done the route before. Our plan was to climb the NE Arete in which we sourced all that beta from Mountain Project.
That's cool, the lines you have drawn on Dana butte get my attention the most. Where did these come from? We put up a new route on the East face of little Dana (unnamed summit north of Dana) and the only people i know that have approached both sides of the ridgeline connecting Dana with the mainland in hopes of traversing it are Jim Ohlman and Ken Walters - the 2 that have climbed the most Grand Canyon summits. Anyways, good luck going after Zoro again and hope you get it!
@@333funklove I now realize you're referencing the map @0:26, sorry for the confusion. This is actually the Harvey Butchart map hanging in the Backcountry office. The lines are all treks that he had done over the years. That's super cool about your new route though - I'd love more info on that. The approach itself looks like an adventure of its own!
@@slammyg6866 That's quite interesting that they're calling that map Harvey's. It's totally inaccurate compared to what he really did. I haven't looked at it in the back country office, but just pulled up other images online of other sections of that map. It shows a line climbing Geikie peak and Scylla, which he never did. I climbed Geikie in 2015 with P Tomasi and S Peters, and we were probably the 3rd party to ever do it. Following J Ohlman K Walters and D Buchello in 1977, and then an ascent by A Doty and S Baxter shortly after. Harvey also never climbed Dana as far as i know. One of my friends is a back country ranger at south rim who i've climbed with in GC, i'll have to ask him what's going on with that. Oh yeah, and sorry, but i'm just a super geek about GC exploration and have focused more there than anywhere else for the last 26 years.
Thanks for sharing Keith, it really is fascinating to hear about the Canyon's history from those who have seen more of it than I have and adventured below the rim with other experienced canyon hikers. I am constantly learning more about the Canyon and it's history and will likely reach out to you in the future. My climbing partner and I were actually talking about Geiki and Scylla a few weeks ago, I'd be interested in learning more about your route! Thanks again for sharing, I really do love being educated on this stuff.
