I don't mind water temps at 30 but I'm not fond of air temps in the 30s lol. Is it March yet?
Been killing it on blade baits this winter. Landed a 12lb hybrid on a 12.5g blade.

I've cut one of my weed guard pins down so it ends the right at the head ,,, this way you wont get any flashing .. and maybe try using heat shrink tubing for the hook eye instead of the foil

Justin, the fish was fine, i always take great care and make sure fish is ok.
What’s the best rod and reel ??
Thats kind of a hard question to answer, but in short when fishing the river for walleye a Medium Heavy in 6'-6" to 7' is a good choice as you often are using 1/2oz to 1oz weights so you need a rod to handle the weight yet still cast and fight a fish in current. Reel size 2500 to a 3000 will work great.
If your talking brands of rod and reel? Thats like asking what the best car is, Ford, Chevy or Chrysler it a matter of preference as they all do the same thing.

I believe its from saltwater fishing for half my life it gives me more leverage i think.
Always have a hand in front of reel on big saltwater rods so i guess i adapted that same thing for fresh water bass rods.
