Thanks Chris! I’m glad you like my channel. It is designed to help people coming off benzos, z drugs & methadone et cetera. I might start computer repair/network support again in the future. I’ve definitely put weight on, quite a lot of weight but at least I’m eating now! When I was sitting around smoking crack all night I hardly ate.

I managed to sort my alcohol consumption out - now I drink two or four bottles of lager each week. Drinking is very difficult to moderate I find, especially having stopped drugs.

@@benrogers84 It's really difficult to break the habit.I had been drinking every night. sometimes binges sometimes just needing 3-4 cans. It was getting out of hand

It’s definitely not easy to stop drinking. When I was living in a tent I was consuming about 8 x 500ml 8.2% Henry Weston’s ciders each day and they had to detox me from alcohol in hospital. I’ve kind of had enough of alcohol too but when I go four or five days with zero alcohol I want a drink very badly! To stop drinking try & fill the time you usually use to drink up with hobbies / generally staying occupied. I find I sleep much better on zero drink!

@@benrogers84 Yes I did a month sober with help through a private detox. I had to. Routine helped alot during those 7 weeks then I relapsed. I was drinking about 7 cans of 5 percent an evening. I started drinking again on and off for the last few months. I'm on acamprosate for the cravings and I just don't want it in my life anymore. Pleased you've overcome alot of your addictions. Zopiclone has been my hell....esepcially all the money on pills, as my tolerance went up.

Well done in completing a month sober! That’s quite an achievement. I also find routine helps & keeping occupied, taking it one day at a time and sometimes five minutes at a time! I spent four months in jail so I went without alcohol and cigarettes the whole time & I found it ok, in fact I quite enjoyed it in jail! It was quite good in a lot of ways! 7 x 5% drinks is too much to be drinking everyday but not as bad as you’d expect. If I was drinking 7 x 5% drinks a time, I’d cut down by a drink every 3 or 4 days as in tapering the alcohol down slowly. I last drank on Tuesday but only had two bottles of Stella unfiltered (5%). Zopiclone is nasty stuff mate, I CT’d that as well as the other stuff & zopi used to make my mind blank which was very pleasant as I suffer schizophrenia & ASD so the effect from Zopi was very ‘beneficial’ even though i didn’t like the amnesia it caused. I also get cravings for alcohol but do my best to try & ignore them, though that is easier said than done!

Thanks for the reply! Yes it was not pleasant, actually it was horrendous. I was extremely restless and my heart raced 24/7, insomnia big time as in half an hr sleep a night for 3 months or so. It was like being possessed by the devil.

Right now I’m on a beta blocker & a statin during the day as well as small dose of pregabalin plus in the evening I take another pregabalin plus mirtazepine and melatonin for sleep. I take iron & magnesium supplements at night and I eat a fair bit of fruit, not much veg though!

@@Mark-u2y CBD is not meant to be psychoactive but to me it’s beneficial I think as it helps with anxiety plus chills me out ever so slightly but negligible.

No problem and yeah, I used to see halos around objects but they went away after I stopped taking drugs.

Thanks for the kind words & reply. I used to see weird stuff yes but not now - the weird stuff seemed to disappear over time but it might have been time as now I’m over two years off Benzos & z drugs + methadone. My injection of an anti psychotic called Abilify might have helped.

Hi Simon I’m sorry to hear your wife passed away. Is the reason you don’t want to leave the house due to anxiety? How many zopi are you talking on a daily basis? I am not sure what places help but probably some kind of rehab. Thanks for the kind words- somehow managed to quit drugs ct.

Hi Ben, Been watching your story and just wanted to say in the first place that I really admire you. I'm currently now on 2 mg of lorazepam and 7.5 mg of zopiclone which I stopped cold turkey for 4 days now. The insomnia is brutal and I raised the dose of lorazepam probably now on 3 mg . I fall asleep and after 3 hours wake up and taking a bit of lorazepam. Don't know how to stop this nightmare Cheers

Thanks very much for the kind words and response. It’s much appreciated! Did you stop just the zopiclone cold turkey? Lorazepam is a short-acting benzodiazepine and if you have been on this medication several years you will have built up a tolerance. Benzodiazepine and z drug medication are in my opinion paradoxical as when prescribed for anxiety and insomnia ever increasing doses seem to be required due to the tolerance we build up over time due to dependence. The only real way to stop the nightmare (in the long term) is to ride out the withdrawal ie insomnia as sleep does eventually return once off zopiclone. The sleep zopiclone and zolpidem give is artificial sleep due to it being drug induced. Try taking 7.5mg 6 nights, leaving the 7th night with half a tablet (3.75mg). If you find you can’t sleep on 3.75 then just try and ride it out so you sleep well the following night. After a week of 3.75 on one night try 2 nights on half a tablet and continue in this manner until you are free from zopiclone. Hope this helps. Ben

No. I stopped the Methadone cold turkey then that alone sent me mad / psychotic and I then decided (stupidly) to stop the benzos and Zopiclone cold turkey too. Ended up sectioned in 3 different psychiatric units mind.

@@benrogers84 they've been lacing it with synthetic cannabinoids since 2020 in Europe not every strain but I had a withdrawal similar to gear stopping thc I was getting. And if don't believ me it's on wedinos and Reddit I smoke cbd it's alrite but I take hhc tincture or thc tincture if can get it.

Thanks bud! I really don't recommend going cold turkey from z drugs or benzos despite doing just that.....we learn from our mistakes and I like to help others with the healing process! Congratulations in cutting down the zop as I know full well what it's like. The effect where it made my mind blank was addictive as I suffer from schizophrenia and am on the autistic spectrum, newly diagnosed.

L Theainine is supposed to help with benzo and z drug withdrawal. I wish the UK 🇬🇧 had cannabis legalised - it would probably make sense. Valerian root powder is something else which I've read can help withdrawal.

It's very difficult giving up drugs, but I can assure you it's very worthwhile in the long term. Now I'm not on anything, I feel better in myself, plus I'm only buying stuff I feel I need.

I've had a lot going on this past year or two with coming off the dr*gs plus was homeless, living in a tent, sectioned for a few months, then spent 4 months on remand in Exeter. Had a court case to deal with during a time when I couldn't think at all well due to the benzo and Methadone cold turkey withdrawal. Has not been pleasant, but I'm somehow still alive.
