Seems frivolous in light of the hurticane destruction all over the SE. but here is a spot of beauty to remind us to be thankful.

Hi! I’m farther south than you and this was my second year attempting to grow dahlias. It has been a challenge and I have lost many, but I cannot give up completely because they are so worth it!! Do you have any tubers you will be selling? If so, I am interested.
I am glad you are not giving up. It is surely a labor of love and trial and error. Thanks for asking but I don't sell tubers. There are a lot of sellers out there and I am sure you can find some good ones..
Gorgeous blooms❤ pesto time with all that beautiful tasty basil ! Or dry it use as seasoning.
Beautiful dahlias ! I love when you share facts and names about each Dahlia. I also like the longer videos 😅. I'm trying to grow dahlias in Texas I had some success in spring. I'm noticing some varieties do better than others in heat. Best ones I came across is kick off and Genova.
John likes your beautiful flowers❤👍👍👍👍👍

Your garden is so amazing Mona! 👏🏻 Thank you for sharing.
Wow Beautiful :) Greetings from Sweden
Hello 😊
Hello. 🙋♀️
Yikes! I’m on a much smaller scale, but it’s still pretty disappointing 😢
I feel you!! I garden in north central Alabama. For years I have had good luck with growing dahlias, but this year has been brutal. Yes the heat, but then bug pressure, slugs and powdery mildew. So few flowers. So frustrating. I’m hoping the shorter days and eventual break in the heat will make a difference.
We are not alone. I just read a newsletter from 3PorchFarm here and they have lost hundreds of dahlias this year..It has been a tough year for them.
Do you leave them in ground over winter? I live in North east GA.
Yes, I leave them in the ground and mulch with pinestraw
@@monagabriel thank you!

Hey Mona! Good to hear from you, seems like a great year for you and the garden. Love when share your beloved Winter past garden / homestead . Thankful as always for you sharing and happy growing! ❤💐🌻
Thank you so much
Hi maam from where are you? I live in a tropical climate, can i still grow dahlias?
Hey It might be a challenge but try a few and see what happens..Happy gardening.
Happy birthday tomorrow! 🎉🎂Your spring garden looks like a wonderful place to be. And dahlias growing already…sweet. I moved to Canton, GA recently and I’m in the process of setting up my raised beds. The not so fun part, lol.
Happy Birthday! I'm so proud of my dahlias! I over wintered them outside and they survived in the near zero temps we had. This winter was really harsh and I lost plants but the dahlias actually survived. :)
Yay!
❤❤
Beautiful sharing 😊
Thank you
Beautiful flowers🎉🎉🎉
Thank you
Beautiful blooms of Dahlias! You did a great job 🍃🌹🍃
Thank you
This is the first season I've grown dahlias and at first I was disappointed with them. I'm in Arkansas and like Georgia, the summers are HOT! My dahlias wouldn't grow in the heat and humidity. Now that the weather is turning cooler, the dahlias have resumed growing and are covered with blooms. They are beautiful!
Thanks for sharing!
Now you will get addicted !! Can’t step back 😊
I tried growing dahlias for the first time and they wouldn't do anything all summer. They only got around two ft. tall. They finally started growing again very late in Sept. when the weather cooled down. How do you get your dahlias to grow during the hot months?
Some of mine haven't bloomed yet but now have buds. I overwinter them in the ground, so some of them start blooming early
Looks amazing. Cute dog
Hi from Scotland. Your Dahlias look amazing, so colourful. Looking forward to watching more. Thank you for sharing
I tried dahlias for the first time this year and I'm not impressed with them. I live in an area that is extremely hot and humid for at least 4 months. That's not unusual weather for us but our climate. The dahlias would hardly grow and no blooms during the summer. Sad!

beautiful flowers, so beautiful❤
❤
Dahlias looking really beautiful. I know about putting stakes & tieing them up but the net you hv used… can you comment on how you did that?
1 LİKE very nice video 💯☕👍🙋🏻♀️🇹🇷
I have never planted dahlias...maybe I will. Your dahlias are lovely 😍
Thank you so much for this lovely video. You have made my morning! Love, B
Awww thank you for watching

Thank you for watching
Love it..nice..
How did you make your own hybrid?? That's awesome
I'll try to do a video about that. it's not hard but it is time consuming. thanks for asking
Beautiful Mona!! So wonderful to see your garden. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Marti
Did you start the bachelor buttons in trays or direct sow? I haven't had much luck with direct sow them. Was thinking about starting some in trays this season.
These were self seeded from last few years. We pulled up a few from roadside and scattered the seeds from them. I just hope they keep coming back
Mona! Wonderful garden, inspiring and really great planning going on at Winterpast (sp?). Thank you so much for sharing your plans and progress.
Thank you for sharing ! 🌼🌺🌻🌹🌹😍😍♥️
I'm also near Athens, GA and I have tried twice with Dahlias and failed....I think I have learned from my mistakes. I think they like to grow where my oriental lillies and Queen of the Nile like to grow...so soil that stays slightly moist....but not soaking wet. BUT They need sun but the sun here can be rough....so I put them where they will get morning sun then they are protected from the heat of the day by being in the shadow of a large tree....then they will get sun from 3-7:30 or so. My first year I grew them in a spot that was too hot and too dry....then I moved them to the spot I am talking about and they took off. Problem....we had that terrible freeze right before Christmas. We got down to 11 degrees which is really unheard of. I had mulched all my lilies, gingerlilies, elephant ears etc but totally forgot about the dahlias because they were new in that spot....checked on the tubers a few weeks ago and 😢. Like a fool I am trying again. I did the same thing with climbing hydrangea. Took me three tries....and Bingo....it's happening.
Wow❤
Beautiful? Full sun? Where did you plant? In Florida it is so hot!
Yes, full sun
lovely!
Que maravilha eu gostei muito do lugar eu escrevi no canal 👍 🌼 👍 🌼
South Alabama and I'm so sick of winter! I think we had our last freeze, so we've been out getting some raised beds ready and trimming roses and moving some things around. So excited for spring and summer blooms!
We probably have more freezes before spring. Enjoy your garden!
I'm near Athens, GA and just bought some to plant this year. Do dahilias need full sun, or would they benefit from some shade?
Full sun.
