River: Year 3
Here's a montage of clips I squashed together to celebrate our little man's 3rd year. It is full of toddler magic, but lacking in meltdowns.. those would be a whole other video.. enjoy

Is that just a regular wood stove?
Thanks I am turning my girls playhouse into a sauna good job
How much progress has this project had up to this date ?
very nice build. I like the simplicity of your design which is what I'm going for as well. can I ask what you did for The floor? what it's made of? I just started framing mine on an existing concrete slab and debating if I should leave it concrete, tile it, or just use one of those rubber mats with holes for water to drain
great video!
Love the build, looks like you can get it good n hot! Where in the world are you situated?
Impress your friends by pronouncing it properly. Its pronounced sow-na not saw-na. Phonetically pronounced.
Nah mate it's sa-u-na
@@Sleipnir32 phonetically mate
@@neilperttula3872 anyway its still pronaunced with A, just like he does.
@@Sleipnir32 wrong again
@@neilperttula3872 if u want to impress people with proper pronounciation u say sa-U-na, sows and saws löytyy saunan takaa
As in every US sauna video the bench is about one metre too low.
No heat shield for the corner person? TRhat is a lot of radiant heat uif you haven't....plus safety. I hope you have because those stoves get HOTTTT
Great design, liked the metal work solutions, nice videos. Thank you for sharing.
Nice work. One of the basic rules conserning measurements in sauna is that your toes have to be at the same level or upper as woodstove's top level/stones.
very cool Vesa! I did not know that. makes sense
It's a small job to fix that. 😃
@Fisticuffs Guilde heatcirculation
@Fisticuffs Guilde Air is usually much cooler below the stone level. It's nice to have warm air also for feet.
Vesa is right.
Confused. This wasn't the ending right? What about the sauna part?
there is another video showing the finished sauna
Where did get the fence cedar? Tnx
Hey bud what's the highest temperature you have had in it?
I dont have a thermometer in there, I just get it hot and use the window and cracked door to control temp. It is more heat than needed, but manages well with airflow
Do you have a video of you using the wood stove? I'm curious to know how much steam is put out when you put water over the stones. Can you make a video like that? Highly interested in building my own!
no I don't, and that sounds like too much work! haha. I can tell you that I usually use the sauna dry for about 10 minutes, and then just put a little water on the stones every 5-10 minutes. you feel the steam and heat. so its there. but I dont want or need too much water going on the stove. too much rust.
😁
lost me at the rap music.
Is ur sauna working good in winter -15 ? =)
yep, super hot. I keep the window and door cracked to get a fresh breeze.
What an amazing recompilation of such a beautiful human been! Feliz cumpleaños River.
Nice,...will be great to have these in the future
Wow man, what can I say, that was just incredible.
thanks my man!!
Awesome Jesse!
thanks brother!!
<3 Love it!!!!
Nice to see a future Angler enjoying the great outdoors. Love seeing young kids out fishing, looks like you got him hooked. Great video montage, really enjoyed it. Thumbs up from me.
thanks!! yep he loves it!
Forget the rapping .
Dena Redford You too racist to. Listen to the words. Lol
Very nice! How hot does it get and how long does it take to get up to that temperature?
Hi Bryan. It takes about 30-40 minutes to get it hot, and a load of wood in the stove is usually enough for a 30-45min sauna. It get's hot enough that the window and door get opened, which I prefer as you get the cold air mixing in with the hot
Nice fish Jesse. Really fresh too. Nice to see him go back to finish the spawning cycle. Great fight out in open water. Awesome. Subbed you bro.
Nice video, i love canoe/kayak trolling, not using a motor means you really earned your catch 👍
Hey Bud, did you lose a camera on the Old Woman a year or two ago?
Hi Jesse, I noticed you have a window in there, is it a vinyl frame? Have you experienced any cracking or problems with it?
HI Stephen, there has been no cracking, but I have notices some warping with the window.. on the bottom. nothing crazy but enough to make me realize it should have been wood.
Ok thanks! Appreciate the reply.
I also recommend tempered glass window.
Your video helped me a lot. Your right there is not a lot of info on wood stove installation. Thanks Jesse.
That's great to hear Rick! glad it was helpful. Sometimes it just makes all the difference to actually see some of that details rather than read about them.. cheers
nice eys and I love the pixies
Sauna or jist a shed?
sauna, if you watch video 2 you see the inside build
sauna. second video shows completed build
@@TheSteelheadangler did u isolate the roof and walls? Is it working good at -15c =) i maybe going to build like u did =)
yes for sure.. i insulated both with rigid foam, then wapped the inside with a foil vapour barrier.. then the cedar interior @@lumrez916
U just gave me a good idea about how to angle the side wall roofline. Thanks. I'm building the exact same thing. De la soul. Never forgotten.
awesome glad you enjoyed it Russell. good luck, it is worth it!
I"ve never fished the great lakes from shore, but I am going up there this summer and will be attending school there in the fall. What set up do you recommend I get and are there any tips you have for catching fish from shore? Great video, thanks.
been casting for coho and steelys for 20 years on lake superior, best fishing on earth in my opinion
I agree! some of the most beautiful country too.
nice do you catch any kings doing this too?
I have on Lake Ontario but I usually fish Superior long after the kings are in
Beautiful, do you mind if offer some tips for first timer? Fly selection, set up, river?
What lake was this? Is there easy public access?
Awesome Video, Jesse! I live about an hr and a half from the north shore in MN. I am thinking about going up this spring to try for Coho on the North Shore. I have never fished them before. Any tips on how to fish them?
Hi Nick. In my experience on superior they hit small spoons (like little cleos, 3/8oz) out in front of river mouths, and spinners seem to work best in the river. My only real advice would be make sure you know there are fish that run the river's you are going to target! these fish were all from the wawa area northeast superior. but this method works great for Rainbows in the spring too!
Thanks for the advice, Jesse! I am really looking forward to fishing salmon for the first time. After looking into some of the rivers on the NW side of the lake, I think I am going to try up near grand portage MN (almost directly across the lake from where you were). From the sounds of it, there are a couple places in that area that seem promising.
Very cool!
thanks!
Looked like a fun day on the ice....nice job!
did u build your house as well?
Great video- how dep were youi fishing and how would you get your lure down that far trolling slowly? Thx!
HI Allan, thank you. Generally in summer I am getting down about 30-40 ft. I use lead core line, with a 10ft 10lb leader and a small spoon. But you can also get down that deep with a 3 way swivel and a 3oz weight, going nice and slow in the canoe!
Jesse Wright nice video! How do u check if your lure at right depth?
@@dzhi8499, using leadcore line, with different colours, you can calculate how deep you are going. I estimate 5-6 colours to be about 30 feet going slowish in a canoe
Looks fun....I like the trolling set up
Great job....what was the total cost?
Thanks Martin. Total cost was around $1200 Canadian all said and done. Most expensive part was the cedar ($400 for the cheap stuff) and the chimney pipe and ceiling kit ($400). Learned a lot building it too so that makes it worth it. We use it almost every week from Sept to May and any time friends are up. Cheaper than the kits and Barrel Saunas that I have seen which go for around $4000.
Very nice! What brand the stove? How much is it, I am shopping around now in toronto GTA
How is it insulated? Doesn't look like it would retain 90oC heat so well....
nice trade a trip////
Nice, love how their eyes light up at night
yeah it was pretty cool looking around for them. I think we missed the main event that happens middle of the night, but we'll get a chance to observe next spring!
What do you throw for theses?
coho I throw spoons and spinners. heavier spoons for the lake and lighter for the river. for steelhead I always float fishing
great vid i would like to fish coho up there looks like a great time
it is, early October is usually prime time. lots of beautiful nature and very few people!
