You know what - I don't really know tbh! Most multiplayer games tend to be single planet - I think a lot of people find it a lot easier to control units etc (me included) on a single planet. So they tend to be less popular. I will try and play some more in the future 😁

Yea I believe there are. I was speaking to an ex-plat (futuregnome) the other day and he was saying that's how he plays multiplayer systems (with hot keys to switch). I need to investigate what the keys are!

Haha!! Very true. I never think about storage early game as I rarely get into blue, but this game mid-late I hit the blue a fair bit. Noted for the future :)

Hummm that's a good thought process - I know this is an essential move in BAR, but not so sure it is worth it in PA as there is a lot more metal generally. That's one to post in the PA discord :)

@@DanRTS Sorry i was speaking generally not criticizing your game, my bad 🙂 I play like sh*t. 😄can barely beat a normal AI. but you know, its annoying to build a huge army, you’r just about to strike heavily and you realise you accidentally killed the enemies commander too early and the game ends.. hope one day people comes up with a mod to change this 🙂

Heh! I didn't take it critically don't worry :) yea this is the type of game to be honest, all derived from Total Annihlation - protect your commander at all costs. There's similar games such as command and conquer where you have to kill all the units to win. To beat medium, even Uber AI, I guarantee you'll win if you just build tanks. Just tanks (and fabrication to get metal spots). It's a fun challenge, give it a go :)

Heh yea that would be great. There is a system called 'Annihilator System' which has the two Planetary Lazers. I will have to play that again! I will ensure I do. I will also look at whether I can edit those planets to be like this too :)

there's a channel, Zilberkoenig who has an amazing series covering the basics, as well as some other tips about various features and unit types in the game. i played PA since 2015 and even i learned a few new things from it, he has a playlist of the series if you look up his channel

Hey - online matches are really hard. I would suggest you practice with AI skirmishes (hard and above) first to get used to quick starting routine. I'm not the best at the game, but in general I would say make sure you are using that eco as much as possible, without running out if you can. Never let it sit 'blue', as that means you are wasting it - build more units or storage. Tanks are a strong general unit and do well against most units (T1) with an exception of speed, so tend to be a staple in my unit make up. Always keep expanding, and plonk forward factories down where there are metal groups for protection and army growth. For scouts, air has a great radius and is fast, and vehicle scouts can see mines, so its a good idea to include them in the mix once and a while. You should start T2 production around the 6-8min mark, if you have the eco to support it. The commander general starting should be bots + metal + air + 3 power + factory + repeat(3 power + factory), whilst this is a good starting point, it the factory type, map type and amount of fabrication you have that can dictate things. If the map has a tonne of metal your first factory could be on just fabricator production, and cranking a really strong economy. The unit mix from the starting factory should be 3 or 4 fabricators, a load of dox/strykers, maybe anti-air, then add a fabricator back into the mix, to ensure you have a constant supply as you grow. The starting fabricators should be going to get metal immediately. Never let them be idle (easier said that done!) Ensure you know the hot keys for 'select idle fabs' and 'select idle factories'. he best raiding units are groups of dox as they are fast. Keep applying the pressure with raiding. Grenadiers are ok against turrets but poor in general. Get onto the PA discord as there are always people to offer you free coaching. Hope that helps!

@@DanRTS and i think its important to note getting beaten doesn't have to be a failure in its entirety, checking replays is surprisingly helpful in both seeing what the enemy did to get the advantage, and get a better hold of where you made a bad move I also have a friend who's really good at the game and i like to 1v1 him every now and then, even tho i get my ass beat more often than not, he's great at the game and taught me a lot of neat stuff i never knew despite playing for nearly 6 years :> And while the community may be a bit smaller than most, there are a load of great people, some of which may even stick around after a match to give you some pointers

@@DanRTS theres also the bug survival then the modded map where you can artillery over a canyon and lead your units through a tron like maze to the enemies base. I also think there was capture points for that map… Of course it would be a 1v1

@@DanRTS their range is pretty similar but because of that slope and their missiles homing and doing more damage I reckon they’d have done the trick

It was a hosted game with the host's custom map so I don't have it. There is one called 'Drained Nomegatron 4v4' in the [WAF] Map Pack which is verrrry similar just less pretty. Hope that helps!

I'm using the standard WASD preset on the HotBuild2 mod, but have also assigned tab to be air selection. I think that's about it!

You can assign types of unit to keys hotbuild2, but not sure about unit variations themselves. Might be a question for the PA discord (someone will help on there). A feature I used to overlook is if you select a bunch of units, the breakdown of what you have appears in the bottom left. If you then click the specific unit you want in that list, it only highlights what specific one. Select idle Fabricators is a hot key (1 on HotBuild2 preset, or F in base game) too. Good luck!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video 😁. The good players know the maps really well so know exactly where the opponent tends to start. Also most planets are symmetrical so you can work it out. If you go into T2 straight away your economy will crash and be realllllly slow at getting units out and building up eco. It is a good idea to get units out asap to start applying pressure, with T1. T2 is generally better when your economy can handle the extra strain.
