Mrranwolfe 1 - Thank you for your comment. That is a good point. Most people do not consider that perspective. They answer with a simplified answer that really doesn't address the root of your question. I don't think those who are christians with a close relationship with God expect God to come to their rescue at all times. Bad things happen even to those who believe and follow God's teachings. If someone is a follower of God because of what they get out of him that is not a true relationship. The truth is God honors freedom of choice paramount. He can see all factors in every situation which we cannot. He will do what He can to relieve suffering and when He cannot without breaking the principles of the universe and His government then some will suffer. He would intervene if He could however if He did always then no one would understand what bad choices cause. All powerful is one aspect of His character but He is also all good. The core point is where is He when bad things happen? Suffering with us. No god man has made up could do that. All the gods of man's inventions want appeasement. The real God wants relationship. Mrranwolfe 1 Thank you for your comment. I understand your frustration. Because someone does not stop everything that they do not want to happen does not mean they are the cause. In fact if they controlled their environment in that manner they would be considered a control freak. There are a variety of reasons that something may not happen the way you think it should. Wouldn't He be violating freedom of choice? How would we get the point that bad choices make suffering? If I stopped my child from every mistake he/she would never learn from the mistake. I believe He will do what He can to relieve suffering and when He cannot without breaking the principles of the universe and His government then some will suffer but one day He has promised this way of living will be no more. No more suffering. For those who don't want to harm others or be harmed there is a promise that this will happen. It is easy to think that All powerful means that one would be controlling but He is also all good which means He would not be all controlling. The core point is where is He when bad things happen?
