I think you need to find the original price based on the date of invoice. Here is my suggested solution: WITH valid_sales AS ( SELECT productcode, unitprice FROM online_retails WHERE quantity > 0 -- Exclude returns), original_prices AS ( SELECT productcode, MIN(unitprice) AS original_price -- Original price as the first price recorded FROM valid_sales GROUP BY productcode), average_price AS ( SELECT AVG(original_price) AS avg_price FROM original_prices) SELECT productcode, original_price AS unitprice FROM original_prices WHERE original_price > (SELECT avg_price FROM average_price);
