​@shakenphoenix5290 you should build an old Pontiac motor to drop in it. You can build one with stock parts fairly cheap an it'll make over 400hp an 500ft lbs, just a stock 400 block with an aftermarket 4.25" stroke crank or a stock 455 block with stock crank & some big valve small cc stock heads like 31/(37), 670, 061, 722, 48, 62, 12, 13, 16, 614 rd port, or 44 tunnel port. Any of those heads in stock configuration on a stock 4.25" stroke 455 crank in a stock 455 block Pontiac will make over 400hp an 500ft lbs. You can use a Pontiac 400 block but have to get an aftermarket 4.25" stroke crank because the stock 400 crank stroke is only 3.75", if you can get a good deal on a stock 455 block & stock 455 crank that your not going to spend alot of $ prepping at a machine shop then you can build it really cheap, if you cant get a 455 block & crank cheap, a stock 400 block & stroker crank might be cheaper and a better route because the 400 smaller bearing journal is better for rpm than the larger 455 journal. Either way with the compression pistons & a good cam on either stock build will make over 500hp. I see blocks go for like $3-500 in good shape & heads for the same price & stock cranks are even cheaper if 2nd hand, otherwise new isn't very much, rods & pistons are that much either, then just machine shop work, cheapish cam & valvetrain, gasket & bearing kit, water & oil pump + pickup & windage tray, oil pan, stock iron intake manifold & stock 800cfm quadrajet & the rest of the accessories & extras, I've seen good builds done for $4k starting with nothing, if you can get a complete engine cheap & reuse alot of parts & do the work yourself aside from machining & balancing you could do it for less. Make a nice winter project & have a nice new heart for the bird come spring. You can't beat the tork of an old poncho & the sound is like nothing else.
