This is my place to share updates on my knitting projects and ask for advice from all of you. I live in a rural area and don’t have any in person friends who knit so I look online for knitting friends! I would love for you to be one of them.

Your sourdough routine sounds excellent! The only thing I would add is a batch of cookie dough 😊
@@texaspeachknits oooh…I’ve never done sour dough cookies! Do you have a recipe you would recommend? I’m all for cookies!
@mymakingadventure Farmhouse on Boone sourdough peanut butter and choc chip are my favorites!
@ I love Farmhouse on Boone! Thanks for the recommendation - I already told my girls and they are super excited!!!
Hooray! So glad your prize made it. I'm going on a quest to help find the perfect background color for that miniskein set. So glad you like the bag too ❤ I love the mini sweater you are making your daughter!
@@texaspeachknits Thank you for helping me find a background color! I think the yarn is so beautiful that I don’t want to take anything away from any of them! Thanks for watching ❤️
Everything looks so well made! You’re so talented! Btw I am OBSESSED with the Lisa Frank socks like wow!! 😍
@@happylittleknits967 Thank you so much! The Lisa Frank color way was so fun I so glad I was able to get it!!!
Your zipper install is so impressive! I'm interested to know more about how you pick up your stitches in your socks that is leaving holes. We should chat about that! I may have some ideas for you 😊
@@texaspeachknits Thanks for watching! I would love to hear your ideas for the socks!!!
Your projects look fabulous! Thank you for sharing about the zipper. It looks good! Merry Christmas 🎄
@@mywoolmitten Thanks for watching! Merry Christmas to you too!
Oh my! The carrots are huge. I'm thinking a nice big vat of soup 😃 Have you ever sliced radishes and put them on a sandwich? Good luck with the costumes.
@@thecraftydawn Yes, the carrots have been going in soup! They got much bigger than we anticipated 😅 I’m not sure if I have put radishes in a sandwich or not, but I’m sure it would be good!
@ I plan on making soup this weekend. It's darn chilly here! I hope you like the radishes on a sandwich.
The soups you mentioned sounded delicious! I'm going through my cookbooks to find new recipes. Have you washed babys new hat? I find acrylic really softens up in the washer and dryer. I forget if I have mentioned this, we have been watching Cooking the Books on youtube. She has some great ideas.
@@thecraftydawn I’ll have to try throwing the hat in the laundry! I definitely have not washed it yet 🤪 I also will check out Cooking the Books - you haven’t mentioned it before so thank you!
Your sandwich looked delicious. Awww look at all that baby hair!
@@thecraftydawn My babies have all three had a full head of dark hair ❤️ Then some of it falls out, the rest lightens up, and it frowns in blonde 🥰 Thanks for watching!
Oh my word! ❤Your sweater is gorgeous! A perfect color on you. ❤ The sweater for your hubby is looking fantastic! The baby sweater is so cute!! It looks like you have made the perfect sized purse!
@@thecraftydawn Thank you so much ❤️
Oh my how fun listening to the video when you sped it up. The voices sounded like a cute mouse cartoon! When you change fabric or color while sewing to you need to change the color of the thread?
I thought it was cute in the one section you could hear the girls' feet running across the floor - that is a noise that I cherish! Yes, many people switch thread when they do different colored projects. I don't know if it is normal to switch within a project like this or to just choose a color that matches the main color. I'm not a professional! I kept white the whole time because I didn't think it mattered that much when it was just for me.
My favorite parts are: being able to wear all the items I've made, fall colors, the smell of fall...I'm sure there are more 😂
@@thecraftydawn Being able to wear cozy knits 🥰Isn’t fall so great?
I love making socks, sweaters, lovies and blankets for babies. I love the look of folded sweater cuffs on babies. The sweater for your husband is looking gorgeous!
@@thecraftydawn Thanks for watching! I would love to make a lovey, but I’m not sure I have the patience. I think the sweater I’m planning class for a folded cuff and it is adorable 🥰
Oh my goodness, congratulations 💖💖💙
@@KathySmith-lt9be Thank you!!! 😊
I burst out laughing when I saw the R on the mitten. I have a friend who is a theoretical physicist and he still doesn't know his right from left so every year or so I get a request for another pair of mittens. One mitten is red and the other is lavender! 😂😂 The baby socks are adorable! I love the little sweater ❤ I do look forward to seeing the second one completed. Awww, kitty just wanted to be a guest star 🐈⬛🐈⬛ I use a lot of worsted weight yarns for shawls, ponchos, scarves, mittens, blankets and warm socks. I hope you have a fantastic weekend.
@@thecraftydawn Glad I could give you a good laugh 😂 Red and lavender mittens are a very helpful idea-what a good friend you are!! Thanks for all the ideas!
I'm over here laughing at myself. When I made my cardigan I fussed and fussed over buttons, finally put some on and I have yet to button my cardigan! 😂😂 I've been making dishcloths to give to a local charity shop that supports a school in my area. I'm all for making scrappy projects. I might use up some worsted yarn and make scrappy slippers for winter. We do not have any carpeting in our house (allergies) and the wooden floors get very cold in the winter.
@@thecraftydawn Maybe I shouldn’t worry too much about the buttons 😂 If I wanted a sweater closed all the time I would have knit a pullover 😂 Slippers are a good idea…I could some for the whole family as we also have a lot of hard wood floors!
@@mymakingadventure slippers are also nice gifts
You've been busy! Your makes are beautiful. I've not had much success with Hobby Lobby yarns. I hope it works out for you.
@@thecraftydawn Thank you! I have not particularly enjoyed this yarn, but I’m hoping it’ll be tolerable at a tighter gauge. Last time I went to Hobby Lobby I didn’t feel particularly inspired by any yarn, so I will keep looking other places!
@@mymakingadventure I wish Hobby Lobby carried different brands like they used to.
@@thecraftydawn That would be nice!
So good to see you back! The yarn in the hat is gorgeous! I look forward to seeing the socks you make with the colors that were not just right. I've given up on making socks, lol, I have too many. That last cardigan I finished was so huge, lol, I may just donate it to a ladies shelter.
Green
Green is a lovely color!
So glad my latest Maker Musings resonated with you! I've also always loved the color purple! I gravitate towards mauvey purples, smokey lavenders, plummy purples, violets, etc. Great job on your husband's Stick Season sweater!
Your color descriptions are wonderful! Thanks for watching!
That sweater is lovely. I can’t knit but trying to learn❤
I learned initially from an aunt, but most what I know is from blogs and TH-cam! Hope you can learn that way too!
Hi❤ I really like most colors but I do tend to like cool colors more than warmer colors.
Purple is my favourite too! I just saw the new movie of the colour purple with my oldest son … it was amazing 🪻🪻🪻🪻
Oooh! Yay for purple! I haven’t seen the movie, but I read the book and it was very good. How nice that you were able to watch with your son!
I love the neutral, natural earth tone colors but I also love a soft buttery yellow ❤
Oooh, sounds lovely ❤️
33 subscribers! 🎉🎉 I really don't have a favorite color, I like the majority of them. If you twisted my arm, lol, it would be either yellow, green, red, purple, blue, orange...well, you get it. 😅 The sweater looks fabulous on you. The musselburgh looks great. I will have to check out the podcast you mentioned that made the gloves. The purple is pretty. I've also worked with the 4 strand cotton yarn (not Hobbii) and it almost drove me to drink 😂 The shawl did turn out beautifully but it was a chore.
You’ll just have to say that your favorite color is RAINBOW! 🌈 I am so excited to have people who come back and watch my videos and encourage me and are part of the community ❤️ Thanks for always being here! About the four stranded cotton yarn…I cannot wait to be finished with it and I don’t think I will buy any such thing ever again!
I don't know if this video by Bag O Day would help with future crochet sweaters. th-cam.com/video/Lkl0VPGgqX4/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
I LOVE the tweed color of your sweater but, lol, the sleeves would drive me bonkers. I don't like them so far away from the body. I do like cozy and oversized but not the shoulders so far down. I would frog and do a more basic crochet sweater. I have yet to knit a sweater that i liked the fit of but I really like the look of the Stick sweater. The color is gorgeous! The socks are so cute. I decided not to purchase the pattern for the Habitation throw. To me it looked like a large shawl that was knit to size and then decreased down. Or, lol, a huge dish cloth pattern. I'm working on a scrappy shawl that is going to be thick, big and warm. Winters are getting rough as I get older and I can't get warm some days. I love the color for the Musselburgh! If that disappears from your project bag, it was me 😂😂😂 I just might borrow the changes you made. I love the idea of 2x2 rib for 6+ inches. The very first one I made was a disaster. I followed the pattern and the hat ended up being 13" around 😂😂 I don't know where I went wrong but all the others have been fine. Silly me 😅 Have a great Sunday and stay warm!
A big cozy warm shawl sounds so nice in these temperatures! I hope yours goes well and finished quickly so it can be warm for you. And I do think I will frog the cardigan if it isn’t too much of a pain! Funny how you and I dislike the style of it, but all my high schoolers thought it was absolutely perfect 😂 I am not trendy enough to suffer for fashion!
@@mymakingadventure I hope that once I finish the scrappy shawl, it won't be too heavy to lift 🤣 Good luck frogging the sweater. I hope the tweedy bits don't get caught. Teenagers....geesh 🤣 They have no fashion sense. Or is it me that doesn't 🤣 I hope the Stick sweater was not too warm at church.
Great projects! The purple socks are darling 💜. The neckline on the stick season sweater looks perfect! Gorgeous projects
Thank you so much! I followed the tutorial Vanissia from the Woolly Worker shared for the neckline pick up and I love it!
The dress looks awesome! ❤ The sweater looks so cozy warm. I'm sure he will love it. I's so glad the ranunculus blocked out to a shape more to your liking. When I share makers work, I use a screen shot of the Ravelry page as that is basically a public page and it has all the info. I have no idea how to make the Make 9 thingy though. Good luck with that.
Thank you for you kind words about my makes and for your tips on sharing others’ work!
So excited to see your Ranunculus! I've been contemplating making my third in Fishermen's Wool, as well! Thank you for the preview of what it might look like!
Ooh, how fun! The ranunculus was a fun knit for sure! You’ll have to let me know if you do knit it!
I love your dress! Are you going to wear it on an episode? As for your sweater, have you looked at the other projects on the project page, or the questions area? There are always changes that people make to get the fit better. Can you stretch the neck and sleeves during blocking? Also, the sweater may be getting caught on what you are wearing underneath. Do you have anything "slippery" to wear under it to find out if that is part of the issue. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
I guess I will have to wear the dress for an episode now ☺️ Good ideas for checking out other notes for the sweater. I will have to do that before I cut into it!
@@mymakingadventureI forgot to mention, the information squares are a great idea but I can't read what is in them. Can you make them larger at all? Thanks 😊
@@thecraftydawn Oh yes I can try to make them bigger next time!
Liked your dress.
I love your version of the Musselburgh hat. Thanks again for another great podcast.
Thanks for always watching ❤️
I love your muscelburough! (I’m pretty sure I spelled that wrong lol) I have been thinking about casting one on for my daughter!
A toddler version would be so cute!!! Thanks for watching!
So great your hat turned out!
Thank you so much!
Your top is beautiful. Will you make more in different colors? I think Tin Can Knits has mitts and hats in multiple sizes for little ones. I'm curious to see how the hat fits your husband. It looks like it will be nice and warm around his ears. Has your husband checked Arcane Fibers for dying ideas? They might be able to help if he has questions.
Thank you so much for all your ideas! I need to check Tin Can Knits for hat/mitten patterns as they have a lot of simple but classy styles. I can’t wait to share an update on both the hat and the dyeing yarn next time! As for knitting another coloring book tee, I’m not eager to knit another fingering weight garment for myself, but since it fits so well I think I may be willing to do it again in the future! Thanks for watching!
Oh my goodness I'm so glad I found you. I to want to make the sweater for my granddaughters for Christmas. I'm a new knitter and could use a class in reading patterns UGH ... when I get started on the lifted increase part I end up with 5 extra stitches ... What? I know I'm so confused . Can you tell me how you did that row?
I’m so glad you found me! Thanks for watching my podcast. I don’t want to give away any part of the pattern here since it’s a paid pattern and this is a public space, but I want to help you!!! Can you email me? I’ll be sure to check and reply tomorrow (although I don’t check everyday). mymakingadventure @ gmail.com Make sure to tell me which size you’re working on as I think the increases are different across different sizes.
I always go up one needle size when binding off. For some reason when I do a stretchy bind-off, it ends up looking wonky and really wide. It looks like you either dropped a stitch or did not pick up enough stitches in the underarm. You can darn those a bit to close up the space. They are cute though. I love the hat. I have made 5 so far for gifts.
Do you go up from your ribbing needle size or your main fabric size? I’m excited to try the Latvian bind off as it was pretty simple for a seen bind off. I have no clue what happened in the underarm as I was counting my stitches, but I’ll darn it up and it’ll be ok. First sleeve on the second sweater is turning out nicely so I’m proud of that!
@@mymakingadventureyes, from the ribbing needle. Let us know how the latvian bind off works for you.
@@thecraftydawnOh I will for sure!
The Aosta looks great. Oooh, the color work is really pretty.
Thank you so much!
Your colorwork looks great!
Thank you so much! I’m so proud of it ❤
Hi Kathryn! I am a mother, teacher and knitter also! Enjoyed your first episode. Best wishes from a Canadian knitting podcaster!
How fun! Thanks for watching my video - happy knitting!
The Aosta Summer Top is gorgeous! I'm looking forward to seeing the finished project. I have given up on the Kitchner Stitch. I only use the Finchley Graph. Roxanne Richardson has a great video on it. I find it so much easier, lol.
Thank you so much! I cannot wait to WEAR my Aosta Summer Top. I appreciate the tip on the Finchley Graph -- I will have to look into it as I have never heard of it before.
Hello Kathryn! I very much enjoyed your video, I'm glad TH-cam recommended it 🙂 I imagine you're back at school now and hope it was a good start to the year! Love your finished sweater and your project bags
Thank you for watching! I am into the school year and feeling swamped already but I love the kids. A long weekend is giving me a bit of time to refocus on my knitting :)
Hi Kathryn! For a first knit garment your colouring book tee looks AMAZING! Also love the colour you chose for the Aosta Summer top :) I can't wait to see you finish it <3 A good budget wool to consider is the Lion Brand's Fisherman's Wool. It doesn't come in a ton of colours (all natural colours) but it is pretty affordable for what you get!
Thank you for watching! Also thanks for the yarn recommendation - I will look into it if what I ordered doesn't work out!
