So I have never seen the original music video till now and wow does it change my perspective on the song. Originally I saw it as some form of time loop, now I see it as the US's obsession with this tragedy. Like I think the image for this single is not clouds but the smoke from the towers modified and changed, variations of you will. As a child who from Pre K to Junior year had to watch 9/11 videos every year (which they got more graphic the older I got but in all honesty they were graphic to begin with) this song connects with me in that regard. A multigenerational scar placed on everyone for the purpose of "patriotism". Shit didn't make me feel patriotic especially after finding out that who we went to war with weren't even the ones who attacked us. If anything it made me furious that this tragedy and those who suffered from it were being used in this way. And honestly while 9/11 is the most recent example of this as an American specifically a Texas, I was taught 3 things. Remember the Alamo, 9/11 never forget, and of course the "day of infamy" remember pearl harbor. There are of course a few others but those three stick out always. Love this song and while the images in the video are upsetting I understand why they are there and appreciate the idea behind it. Though it does feel like a looping in on itself moment because of it but can't be helped.

Random thought but like why does the Roman empire and America weirdly similar, like the Federal Architecture, the Washington monument has Latin Inscriptions, they are both the strongest in their respected times, idk about other branches but the word Senate comes from the Roman empire (FF: Senate comes from the word Senex or Oldman). Just alot of similarities and people do always compare America to the fall of Rome.

This was one of the most significant turning points in the history of not just America, but the world as a whole. This song/vid perfectly captures so much of the emotions leading up to, after, and even during. Even if some of the comments and discourse around it are (perhaps understandably) severely lacking decency, I’m glad the song has seeming lived up to its purpose to “keep it coming back”.
