Just so you understand, both the dogs and I are still LEARNING. The problem I have is remembering what I learned from the previous run!

Put the propellers at the front. They suck the ice down and smash it. The water jets lubricate. Also put hover craft at front. Wakey, wakey!
60%of icebreakers are made in Finland. Not the nuclear ones. I wonder If USA has nuclear icebreakers??
ODEN is however built in Gothenburg, Sweden.
2 nuclear icebreakers have been built in Finland.
A bit ugly but it gets the job done :-)
Den resan va jag med på😄
that looks like fun.
Haha good to know others have the same problems as me when it comes to bikejoring. Beautiful dogs btw
swedish forreign department begging we would not withdraw the Oden
I Used to work as a captain and I dont think oden sucks. there is a reason why the us wanted her desperatly and that is her capacity to make an ice free wake she is sometimes slower then other icebreakers but she is unique in that respect. the us does not have icebreakers with that capacity..but if you compare her to russian nuclear icebreakers she does not have the same capability but she is uniqe in many ways that is why hillary clinton wrote the
@Mrhassesweden fast jämfört med "50 let Pobedy" ligger hon i lä:) Hon hade väl stävat på i en 10-15 knop!
maffigt..snacka om POVER..
why is the US icebreaker still? Not enough power? I Used to work as a skipper in the baltic sea so I know how thought it can be to break the ice.. But the us do you have any icebreakers in the size range of Oden? regards
It was nice taking turns with the Oden breaking ice. The constant noise and vibration would get to you after a while when you were leading. It was an awesome trip. Not too many people can say they've been to the North Pole. Oden is funny looking but effective.
And thanks to steel (and metals in general) being such good at conducting sound, for ship's crew sound is entirely different than for someone listening next to ship's path: th-cam.com/video/U4mC405E6OE/w-d-xo.htmlm13s
It doesen´t "cut" the ice, is lays it self on top of it and crack it with it´s weight.
deck looks like it had lots of traction and grip!,
The water is simply cold salt water. The water acts to reduce the friction between the ship's hull and the ice.
Is the water stored i the tanks or direct pump out from sea water mixed wth salts for use pl's explain
