My 1956 Bentley S1 (in Rolls Royce trim) would not restart after a car show in 1996, and I just parked it until now. It has compression, spark, and fuel delivery, but it appears that the starter motor windings are no longer strong enough to turn over the car fast enough to start it, and so it will be sold on Bring A Trailer, as-is at NO RESERVE in Spring 2023.

The crankshaft is supported in two tapererd roller bearings. Are they reinforced? It's rather a distance from the bearing to where the dynamo works. How about vibrations? Mind you, I don't want to be a killjoy. Sometimes, starting my '62 Venom gives me a headache too.
The Alton electric starter has been known to move the flywheels on the big end tapers! Just saying.
@@velobob4299. Bob having conversed with an old employee of Geoff Dodkin, Velo flywheels regularly needed to be sorted by them. It was a common fault usually rectified by a top hat type taper rather than as original. The Alton starter was really just a convenient thing to blame ( usually the last thing fitted prior to the pending failure)
"Speed Limit 25" That's exactly what you need to test a Velo!
Best part is that the police yard is at the other end of the short street, and I was on the brakes when just out of camera range!

Super installation - looks almost factory . .
I cannot help but be impressed by the ingenuity and engineering abilities involved here, but please apply the same to those dreadful chain cases. I mastered the starting procedure 50 years ago, but never had a clean garage floor.
