Yep!! This is the simply the way of true artists. Stray Kids do this too (as well as others I'm sure) when they are forced to have full on prerecorded vocals playing. They find it deceptive, and that they are cheating their fans who paid for them to perform live.. It gives me a lot of respect for them as well. Not just because they are so honest, or even because they fought to still sing live. But because they are heavy rappers. Talented and authentically passionate rappers + backtrack/prerecorded vocals do NOT mix. Haha. This is because they don't perform their raps with the EXACT same emotional inflection and nuances EVERY time, so doing this to them is putting them in a box. So I respect the fact that they don't allow anyone to put them in a box. I also just love that them doing this makes it known that any artist who doesn't actually sound like they have a backtrack/prerecorded vocals on stages where artists like them DO... well, you get what I'm saying. Haha. Point is, It's an authentic artists way of remaining true to themselves, and their fans, by being completely upfront in regard to what they are and are not doing, and helping to open eyes to the industy BS deceptions. Essentially, they're saying they have absolutely nothing to hide. It's just that these music shows and award shows (like MAMA) are notorious in regard to prerecorded vocals. And if they are forcing prerecorded vocals on artists like them, then they're doing it to everyone. (That's actually what this is by the way, prerecorded vocals. Not technically backtrack.) So a lot of groups do lipsync, some HAVE to do it because their company agrees with the stage, so they reinforce it, and some choose to. Whilst other groups, like XG and SKZ, their companies allows them to have a hot mic. However because it's "prerecorded" and not meant to back them, but instead, replace their vocals all together. Many often have to fight the volume. However, I have noticed some, such as these two groups, have actually taken to performing the song when making the rerecording with far less projection to their voice... Particularly the rappers... so that they don't have to fight their own voices as hard and end up shouting at the fans. Clever loves. Lol
