Orchid Collection Updates/ What’s in Bloom?
Thanks rose of Jericho for the promising dream, may l have more dreams
It is like to put at direct sun light?
Thank you so much for the informative videos
My pleasure, thanks for watching!
Nice update, I hope you get back into posting regularly again. Blackened growths can often be traced back to calcium deficiency, so calmag can help indeed; I also learnt that the hard way😂
Thanks for saying that! Yeah dude I used to use calmag pretty regularly then i got lazy about it, I’m definitely using it again from now on!
Kick rocks 😂😂😂😂 love your orchids and your videos! We have a bunch of similar plants and I think our conditions are pretty similar so I love seeing whatcha got!!
😂 lol thank you, I’m glad!
Nice collection, I’m limited on space so I have to be careful with mine but it’s nice your back.
I can relate. I have to be a little more selective these days myself. Thanks for watching!
Welcome back to YT! 🥳 Really nice collection with a great diversity of orchids. I only have two years of growing experience but my collection really diversified and expanded this year. 13:27 I saw in a video that Disa orchid seeds can self germinate on damp sphagnum moss. 7:14 Summer blooming phals like the Bellina or Violacea are very fragrant and sequential. One of those might be fun for you to grow.
Oh good for you! You seem to have learned a lot already. That’s interesting about Disa’s, maybe if I bloom it again I’ll try pollinating it! I have a Bellina right now but it’s a little small so it hasn’t bloomed for me yet by fingers crossed. Thanks for watching, I appreciate the comment!
@@bennetriley1988 Both of my summer blooming phals are still very young, maybe 6" wide, but the violacea is trying to make two flower spikes already. I also have a schilleriana that is about the same size.
Definitely do more videos! That last orchid you posted is so interesting! I need to look it up.
Thanks for watching! Yeah Disa’s are so neat!
Just came across your video, and I hope you decide to come back to YT. Beautiful collection.
Thank you! I’m going to try to stick with it 😊
❤
Thanks Michelle! 💚
If you give your plants CalMag once a month,it will make them more resistant to pathogens.
I have some but I always forget to use it. Thanks for reminding me!
I was thinking about the CalMag for the black rot on the Catts. Seems I’ve read that before.
Also just watched till the end… good job on the disa!!!
Thank you!!! I was so excited for that one
Heyyyy glad you’re back! Also miss you in the High Desert live streams as well since they are no more 😢
Same here!!! Yeah, me too 😢
Beautiful blooms ❤
Thank you!!! 💚
Glad you are back. Very beautiful blooms. Enjoyed watching ❤
Thanks for saying that! Glad you enjoyed.
❤❤❤🎉🎉😂
💚💚💚😎😎😎
To clarify: you have the false rose of jericho, sometimes just called rose of jericho, which is also called the resurrection plant. The other plant you’re talking about that is also called “rose of jericho” is NOT a resurrection plant and while they are also sold they will NOT unfurl or green up because they are dead when sold.
Where can l get the true rose of jerico in uganda.
I have a question- hypothetically, could someone dig up a native pink lady slipper (in blume) and transplant it into a terrarium that houses red spotted eft newts? And the lady slipper actually thriving...
You just THREW THEM OUT!? The heck dude? Do you not know anything about these? What an atrocity....
They were totally dead. I know I was unclear about it in the video, but they weren’t coming back trust me lol.
You threw them out kills me,they take years to grow u shouldn’t have
Also I think they like organic matter cuz they live in woods so leaves fall a lot but idk I’m still searching
They were totally dead. Idk why I was so unclear about it in the video. Maybe I didn’t want to admit I killed them lol
Nice video! Do you have a follow up video? I am curious on what happened when you used the leca. Thank you!
I'm thinking about getting one from J&L orchids since I live in CT. Clay pots and leca should also help keep them cool.
I just came across this video bc I was gifted this plant. Thank you for the info and for your honesty at the end there. Wish other content creators would do it!
Thank you for the info, a friend had one and was being accused of being a "witch" .😅 Thanks for clearing her name. Video was very informative and now we know how to care for an amazing species.😊
Jan 1, 2024: Thanks, I just received a small one from ebay. Your demo helped! Happy New Year, Kate
Pretty neat! Got one for myself. Any update on this?
Never knew some orchids don't have leaves until I watched this video! Hopefully it did well.
Just found your channel today after it was recommended by TH-cam, but there haven't been any new videos for a year. I have almost two years of orchid car experience so far. Got my first two paphs a couple of weeks ago and I'm hoping they'll do well in CT. Haven't repotted them yet.
Hi. My Crestwood is in blooming (flowering) about 2 mount. But l saw today that flowers rotted before opening and fall. Why?
Thank you for the demonstration and information on the Rose of Jericho plant. And the asides of your pets, animal and plant alike are interesting and make your video enjoyable to watch! I subscribed because of the way you come across as a human being..easy going. I'm the same way and I like to see, hear and learn from like minds.
How does it smell having all that Angraecum sesquipedale in it? People often say Angraecum sesquipedale does not smell good because it has a strong bleach smell to the jasmine scent. How long do you get out of the blooms on this guy?
Amazed that you grow so many disparate orchid under the same light!? I didn't know this was possible. Masdevalia AND Cattleya? How ?!
did you end up planting it? Ive never planted them before. Granted i use them for spiritual purposes but just curious how it worked out planting it?
Hi. This is my first time watching you and was drawn to the fact you were featuring Angraecoids... my favorite genus. I grow Sesquipedale and Lemforde White beauty. I failed with Magd. A few years ago, but am going to try it again now that my skills are improving. I am in East Texas where it is very humid and I feel this really helps. Happy growing and thank you for sharing your AWESOME Crestwood!,,
Aw thanks Kelly! Angraecoids are my favorite too. Im so glad you like my videos. Hopefully I can start posting new videos again soon.
Now that Is a beauty and I am talking about the orchid. Mind you, you look a handsome guy!
Lol thank you!
How many lights do you have on one shelf? I'm hoping mine blooms this year!
I love these plants, their leaves are so cute and neat and the flowers too.
I'm Confused. Can you help me? I have a rose of Jericho I just bought. The first 4 days was fine but now it seems like she is loosing leaves. What could be wrong? I read someone said refill and change water everyday. And water her with distilled water. I pick her up and leaves are coming off.
This is the false rose. The real one, looks more like a dead tree. There is a huge spiritual belief on this plant. In the bible, witches, jews all believe in the power of this plant. Treat it like a spirit, and it will help you with abundance, love, protection. The water to be changed every few days or every week. The water is used as holy water. Also save the sheddings, you can add it to oils and such Thanks for the video
Wow, very cool. Thanks for sharing!
Sphinx moth doesn't pollinate Dendrophylax it is another giant moth believe it's called koth moth.
nice plants! Ive been looking for that red cattleya too! do you know who might have it? thanks
How’s this doing now?
I just got mine! Any updates on yours? I was searching your site but could find one. Ty!
I am hooked on Cattleyas. I am yet to rebloom one of these, but they take time so I'm not discouraged because of it. I do notice your RLC has rather purplish tones instead of the usual magenta or fuchsia tones I've seen on Dick Smith. Is it the camera? because if it's not, I'd venture you have a different variety ;)
Beautiful orchid! She looks very healthy ! What fertilizer do you use and how often? I purchased mine approximately 1.5 years ago but she was a small plant. She's doing well but no blooms yet or any indication of a flower.
My grandmother owned a HUGE staghorn fern when I was a kid. I have no idea what happened to it after she died.
Bought three from a store in my local mall that caters to practitioners of wicca and other new age religions. Because these plants are used in various rituals. I know I'm two years too late, but you can't leave these plants in water they could get moldy. Letting them dry out to their tumble weed like form is a must.
