For the first question, couldn't we just factorise, get two values of x , add them and divide by 2, as its quadratic and max value for parabola. Or use formula for parabola vertex. This way, there is no need to differentiate.

Can you use either method whenever you want? Or is there a specific condition for each Cause I'm finding the Vertex method a bit easier and would prefer to use it always but is it only usable in some cases and then i'd have to use the sliding ruler method I'm guessing?
