You should change the title... What you installed isn't actually a walking beam pivot. The walking beam pivot goes in the header. What you installed is a door rail pivot arm

As a field tech with more than 2 decades of experience, and a former employee of Dorma I just want to say that theED700 / ED400 series has always been garbage. The bearing for the intermediate gear tends to fail, the motor's have a habit of shorting to the case. You always want to make sure to check that with a meter before replacing a control box. The ED700s in particular will allow current to flow through the motor to ground causing them to violently jerk open. They get lost if someone props the door open in a power failure. Then they proceed to swing back and forth for hours because the angle drops below zero when the door tries to close. The control boxes are extremely prone to failure during electrical storms, generator tests, power failures. Dorma has a habit of discontinuing all spare parts as soon as they stop selling a particular model. They did it with the old style ED700 with the exposed gears. That wasn't a huge deal because they were simple and the control box was a direct rip off of the Horton 4190. Now that the ED400 / ED700s are gone they no longer offer arms. I can get the controls and operators rebuilt but the arms are getting hard to find even used. Particularly the pull arms which were always prone to breaking,..

Im servicing a pull unit where the spindle shaft was set too low and it rubs the door top when operating. It looks like I have to remove the motor assembly and use a shorter 1/4-20 bolt to pull the shaft further into the motor body by about 1/2 inch. It's either that or I'll have to remount the entire unit slightly higher above the door. There's plenty of exposed shaft so it appears the installer used the wrong length spindle bolt I assume because he wanted to reuse the existing door track holes, which required him to drop the shaft/arm lower. Even so, the pull arm roller is tight against the top of the door roller track. I'll remount the roller track after raising the spindle, making sure it's level with the pull arm mount. These are well made units and fully featured and easy to program, but looks like the installer messed up the install by gambling with clearances. It's been in service 18 months so likely has slightly more play, causing the contact with the door. Hope that all makes sense???? Will report back after tomorrow. :)
