PATAGONIA | Argentina | FITZ ROY & El Chalten | Alternative FASTER ROUTE to Laguna de Los Tres
With rain in the forecast, our hotel suggested that we take an alternate route which is faster and easier. It ended up not raining, but we were glad we took that route because it was not an out and back hike. We started at the Electrico Bridge and tied in to the main trail near the Poincenot Campground, then we joined the crowds up the steep climb to Laguna de Los Tres, the viewpoint of Mt. Fitz Roy. We got to see the beautiful Piedras Blancas glacier and ever-changing views the whole day. Then, we came down on the main trail to El Chalten.
You have to take a shuttle or taxi (30 min. ride) to the Electrico Bridge, but we do recommend taking this route. It cuts out some distance and elevation gain, plus you see more. Hiking the main trail out and back is about 14 miles, and I believe this alternative route is about 13 (maybe less) miles.
Thank you for watching! Please subscribe :)

      Thank you! We completely understand your predicament because we've been there too. There is SO much to see in Iceland! I recommend getting Rick Steve's guidebook for Iceland. Then, you'll just have to make hard decisions. You won't be able to see it all in 9 days. We have been twice and there are still wonderful things we missed. My favorite places were Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach. I have a video on it. But truly, anything you choose will be great. The whole island is amazing! Good luck in your planning, and let me know if I can be of further help. And, I hope you have an incredible trip!

      Fair comment, there are many kind non-Christians as well. I was just speculating that as a possible reason, not that it was definite. We actually have traveled a lot....we've been to all 7 continents, and almost 60 countries. I know it is different for you and others, but for us, truly the kindest and most welcoming people we have ever encountered were the people of Fiji. Thank you. Peace and grace.

    Take the hike to the lake. Cross the outlet creek. Follow the user trail to the far ridge line Get views down into Avalanche Lake and across to Sperry Glacier. Many enthusiasts do the off trail traverse to Sperry Chalet..... There is SO much more than the overlook..... SO much more in the Hidden Lake area to do. I spent 35 years hiking and climbing in Glacier Park. Hiked into the lake about twice a year. It is well worth hiking down to the lake and walking the shores or exploring the ridges and Bearhat Mt.

    • @TaterTrails
      @TaterTrails 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That sounds amazing! We would have loved to at least hike down to the lake, but that part of the trail was closed due to a lot of bear activity. I have spent months collectively exploring The Furnace. I have scaled, slithered and slid into places I’m sure not very many people know about. I have led tours on my own before they shut down the guiding permits. One of my all time favorite explorations.

      Wow, you probably know the place better than anyone. I wish we could have taken one of your tours. That would have been amazing! It's sad that they have made these changes. Thank you for sharing this.

      Thank you.....I often use the Sony ZV-1, but this video was shot entirely on the iPhone 13 Pro Max. It has it's drawbacks, but I sure do love the convenience.😀

    The basalt columns look exactly like the Devil's Post Pile in Mammoth California. It's crazy how nature can make those octagon layers of rock. th-cam.com/video/ZykYNAyEIbs/w-d-xo.html
