I feel like the true reason why the ending is poodoo is because Deku (and the rest of hero society tbh) did nothing to improve the quality of life of quirkless people; we never see quirkless heroes at any point, regardless of how useful they would be realistically. Their status is stagnant throughout the entire story, and in the end, the only lesson Horikoshi leaves the audience is simple: without powers, you can't be a hero. If quirkless folks had improved in the eyes of hero society, Deku losing OFA at the end wouldn't have been such a sad idea, since we would know that anyone can be a hero regardless of whether or not they have powers.

I was laughing because the chapter was so bad. I and a friend of mine stayed up just to read that chapter and we were joking around, saying things along the lines of, “I bet a dollar that Skeptic just vanished from the series after that one panel of him in the Iron Maiden?” I was left with an imaginary dollar and dissatisfaction with this chapter. It solved none of its issues. It's implied that solving the quirk-suppression therapy issue by promoting it more because that is how life works, the hero ranking thing was a major issue in the series, it even encouraged a hero to partake in eugenics and it still existed, made worse by the fact anyone could be on it now. Kind of reflecting back on the Skeptic thing, the intense restriction on quirk use without a license-one’s individuality, was never looked back on or fixed. There are probably many more issues than the fact that the ending of the series slaughtered Izuku’s character but that is all I have the energy to type.

Moral of the story; don't fight kenpachi, why would you ever fight kenpachi.
