The Onion Knight (玉葱剣士, Tamanegi Kenshi?) is a recurring job class in the Final Fantasy series. Similar to the Freelancer class, the job has no real abilities and cannot equip good equipment aside from the fabled onion equipment, which is exclusive to them. Their real strength is revealed after reaching level 90, when their stat growth skyrockets. By level 99, an army of Onion Knights are nearly invincible, having max stats. In the 3D remake of Final Fantasy III they can learn any magic spell (excluding summoning spells), similar to the Sage class. The four nameless main characters of the original Nintendo Entertainment System version of Final Fantasy III and the Onion Knight (オニオンナイト, Onion Naito?) of the Dissidia and Theatrhythm games based on them are the only notable Onion Knights.

Why is it that we use the name of a certain vegetable to refer both to those who excel and also those without experience in the ways of the world? It is a well-known fact that all heroes in all tales disliked vegetables as children. Their legend begins with their overcoming of this weakness, and then continues with a journey filled with hardships. That noble vegetable, the onion, lives on as a symbol of hardships overcome, and as the mark of a true hero.

The Yian Kut-Ku is characterized by its large, fan-like ear frills that unfurl when excited and enlarged lower bill. They have a large, yellow beak with a pink stripe running central down the length of the upper beak. The lower jaw of its beak is significantly larger and bulkier than the top jaw. Yian Kut-Ku's body is covered in orange-pink plating and beige scales. Its wing membranes are deep blue and its eyes are bright yellow. These wyverns are small and relatively light, making them quick and agile. They have an extremely powerful sense of hearing, thanks to the large frills circling their ears.

It is also able to produce flaming projectiles coming from its flame sac, which can be shot from the mouth at attackers. It can spew three flaming projectiles at hunters when enraged and move faster. Yian Kut-Ku have a tendency to want to appear bigger than they really are by spreading their wings, flaring out their ears, and squawking loudly. They are generally insectivores, preying on Konchu and other Neopterons as a main part of their diet.

The common Saurian is the least dangerous of the Saurian species, but nevertheless a potent foe. They generally inhabit watery areas, either ponds or riverbanks, but are also found in sheltered woods. Common Saurians have green or greenish scales; they sometimes cloak themselves - which renders them nearly invisible - but not as regularly as their cousins, the Sulfur Saurians. They are immune to poison, vulnerable to torpor, ice, and as with all Saurian versions, their weakness is the tail. Saurians are good swimmers, use spears for strong physical attacks, and their spit can inflict poison.

Saurians are mostly found around water and have an appearance like bipedal lizards. They reach around ten feet in height and feed mostly on fish and animals. Saurians are moderately intelligent and possess a sort of social structure, tending to operate in groups called basks. Most basks of saurians will have one of their own stand guard, usually while camouflaged, so exercise great caution around areas likely to be home to saurians. They surpass humans in terms of brute strength and explosive power, and they can use their hunting harpoons as weapons. They can also spit poison from their mouths and quickly slither close to take a bite out of their foes. A saurian’s body is covered with tough scales that cannot be penetrated by many attacks. These scales can also change color in response to the environment and thus saurians can disguise themselves to blend into their surroundings, all the better to ambush their prey. They call this ability "camouflaging". If you damage a saurian’s tail, it appears to lose the will to fight and will usually flee from battle. No one knows exactly why this is, but scholars theorize that a lost tail might demonstrate to others-especially potential mates-poor fitness, thus damaging a saurian’s social standing.

As the alpha-male of the pack, the Blangonga is twice as large as the average Blango with a much more aggressive temperament. Its strong, muscled limbs allow it to run and leap at a startling speed, and its powerful roar can catch hunters unaware without adequate hearing protection.

By calling out to its pack, the Blangonga can summon Blangos to fight beside it in battle. Its deadly speed can bewilder the novice hunter, as they can perform a dive that can send them rolling into their foes and deal out massive damage. Blangongas can break ice at their feet and hurl it at hunters to inflict a Snowman status, or break it into ice shrapnel that can send foes flying.

Blangongas are incredibly aggressive creatures. They will ruthlessly attack hunters and prey, yet shy away from anything larger than themselves.

Blangonga live in cold habitats. Their thick coat keeps them warm and serves as the perfect camouflage.
