i like how most sonic 1 hacks add new level design and a night aesthetic to green hill and feature a usually less indigo sonic that can perform a homing shot that never targets badniks or robotnik himself and sonic can do a super peel out and spindash and literally nothing else and the hack has custom music and the wildest thing to me is that sonic mania sonic 3 air and even sonic 1 forever and sonic 2 absolute have better engines than sonic 1 because imagine testing a new mechanic in your hack and it causes the game to vomit an *illegal instruction* 10/10 romhack totally legit sonic team
